Meanwhile, Flo put up an interview with Helen Maroulis where she revealed she's been dealing with vertigo episodes and a broken ankle for the past few months

She said the vertigo episodes started after she was training with the Valiant Prep men's squad, and that she needed brain scans afterward

Not great

don't stress too much over it...

it is just anonymous forum nerds hiding behind screen names that have no connection to anything and nobody that lives like that mean anything at all...

they simply do not matter in real life...

Yikes…2-11. I was hoping for a much bigger exaggeration…

A 46 year old made it to the US team finals and took a match from the 77 kg rep. I know that guy is decorated but no nearly 50 year old should be that close to making a world team in a good nation. Maybe for 130 kg, someone 1-1s every match and no one can score on him. That might happen, but at a dynamic weight like 77 kg? What's there to expect when 50 year olds are you #2 in the nation.

Otto gets his money back from Shimoyamadaa with an 8-0 tech in the first...

they wrestled earlier this summer and otto gave up a wild 4 early and then lost his mind and basically ran at him... afterwards he texted me and just said how stupid he was... he knew his par terre was so much better than Shimo's and if he had just not worried about it he would have been fine...

Shimo changes levels and gets a hip but otto circles out and hits him with the fett to back righty head and arm and then 2 quick guts and it is over...

he and Orta will run it back from the pan am finals which ended 5-3 orta...

winner wrestles for bronze later today...

Otto and orta fairly even in the hand fight early but getting close to a passivity decision and orta gets a step out...

then otto gets puts down to go behind 2-0 but his defense is on point and Orta gets nothing going at all...

orta just hanging on otto's head... gets a hold pretty tight latre in the first and sells out on it... otto defends super well and eventually puts orta to hisd back and so close to securing the pin but trnasition to a gut... they white paddle the gut which felt a little chincy but time runs out and otto 2-2 on criteria...

orta continues with the pressuring hard in the second and otto wearing down... gives up an early step out...

wash rinse repeat but as they near the edge otto shucks him by and is in a merkel position and he is able to work out of it and cover the hips for the TD and the 4-3 lead with about 2 left...

then orta just relentless and otto getting tired... orta gets the step out and the caution on and one for the 5-4 lead...

orta back on front head and piushing and ends up securing a go behind 7-4 lead with about a minute left...

and that is the way it ends as otto out of gas and orta stays solid on defense... 7-4 and orta moves on to wrestle for bronze...

quick rewatch on the gut late in the first and orta definitely did not get to a defensible position...

100% correct call...

I just watched the match. What did you think about the caution and 1 on the step out?

perfectly acceptable...

otto was cooked and you can't just go straight back like he did...

clearly he was still suffering the effects from whatever got him puking his guts out yesterday because he was so gassed early in the second... when he knelt down in the corner between periods i knew it was going to be a long period for him...

Aslanyan and mammadli went to war for gold at 63kg...

both had big 4s in the first that led to a fight on the feet in the second...

great match...

Hate to see Turner lose that way.  I'm not a fan of eye pokes in general, but Turner seemed to be coming back.  I'm not a doctor, but it looked like bloody tears were coming out of the Russian woman's eye.  Russia inj defaulted the next match, so it definitely seems legit.

those were about the most blatant eye pokes i have ever seen in a wrestling match...

that DQ totally warranted...

gladiator head gear is almost always an indication of how some one is going to "wrestle"...

I agree about the headgear.  The pokes also occurred immediately after Turner seemed to be frustrated with the Russian's tactics.  Again, I thought that maybe the Russian was trying to "sell" the injury, but when they showed the blood coming from the eye , it was clearly pretty bad.

obviously i only went back and watched because of the DQ and knew what i was looking for, but, it was as egregious as i have seen in a match since youth days...

holy shit...

Sabaz wrestled the shit out of jafarov who is a clear #2 on the planet and picks up a huge upset for bronze with the big 4 late in the second...

upset of the tournament?

yeah...

Otto beat Sabaz for U23 bronze last year...

greco is just so deep...

orta and galstyan going back and forth but the ridiculous forward pressure of orta is wearing on galstyan...

orta just taking ground and getting step out after step out...

ARM resorting to YOLO bricks late and ends up losing 10-6...

Orta gets the bronze... good for him...

Orta is definitely getting long in the tooth but his demise has been greatly exaggerated...

just a meat grinder of a weight...

man...

esmaeili picks up an 8-0 tech in a much tougher match than the scopre indicates against Khalmaknov...

Esmaeili is clearly the best wrestler on this planet regardless of style...

not even a close second...

just so crazy good...

well, the best style is officially over and i will try and return to a somewhat normal sleep schedule...

should catch the semis and medal matches of the leg grabbers...
