Nothing speaks more to Hulk Hogan's legacy than selling out and throwing everyone else under the bus for personal gain, so this checks out.

I am aware of who Hulk Hogan is

Just not sure what bnwtwg meant by "selling out and throwing everyone else under the bus for personal gain" in relation to this thread

Are you mad this show isn't happening in America or something?

Sportswashing front and center. The Hulkster would be proud.

Hulkster wouldn't have allowed Team USA's World Team members to wrestle in a high school gym

Brother

Turning down business opportunities and taking the moral high ground on every single issue probably isn't the best idea for a fledgling company trying to follow in UFC's footsteps (UFC is running a show in Abu Dhabi next month)

what are you saying? can you speak plainly?

I think what I said was very plain and transparent. It's a move that The Huckster would have done with a grin on his face, and it's a move that comes with mixed responses when applied elsewhere in the sports world. But hey, the almighty dollar speaks the loudest and at the end of the day it's a business.

and getting thrown under the bus in the scenario is whom?

idk America? I can't keep up with who and when we don't like Middle East states. Do you really want me to write out why UAE isn't a great place and doing its best to work with SA to sportswash? I mean, really?

Sometimes you just need to accept the other side of the argument. You don't have to agree, but you also don't have to always do the usual dunk on the haters act. You're getting into international business and some of us miiiight have a slightly better idea of what we are talking about. I don't know jack squat about rankings. You do. I know about this topic, and I know it well.

i have no earthly clue wtf you're talking about.

someone is getting thrown under....

first because Khamzat and Colby are wrestling and now......

...because we're doing an event in Abu Dhabi?

'selling out' how?

again, who is getting thrown under the bus?

speak plainly. the last response is a bunch of utter jibberish with zero specificity.

"RAF is selling out b/c international locations and MMA guys"

wtf does that even mean?

your panties in a wad b/c were doing events in UAE? you know there's a card in America every month, right?

Ok let me say it plainly since you are dancing around the topic like a Crookham on the boundary.

UAE and Saudi Arabia are doing their damndest to sportswash. Put down the beers and quit playing dumb. Your company is taking the money, plain and simple. You're a journalist and I hope you don't end up on the receiving end of a bone saw and dumped into a barrel of acid like that other American journalist. Is that clear enough?

For those of us who have to do the dance on this international economics topic for a living, it's a hell of a lot more delicate than people think, and people know it's complex as it is.

A company has to be careful who it gets in bed with. Expectations and deliverables shift very, very quickly.

I think we were told we’re supposed to like Saudi Arabia and the UAE now.   They just bought a major stake in Paramount after all.

It’s not like RAF is trying to host an event in Germany… it was the Germans who tried exterminating the Jews which necessitated the creation of Israel, leading to all of the current issues in the Middle East, after all. Let’s just give Germany to Hamas and call it even.

Obviously what happened to Khashoggi was terrible and criminal, but he was not American.  He was a Saudi citizen.

He was a permanent resident (green card) of the United States, which is a requirement prior to being legally allowed to obtain citizenship. And the root cause of his assassination was because he exercised the first amendment right afforded to him as a permanent resident of the US.

Now, will RAF or anyone associated do something so dumb as to rock the Brinks truck? Of course not. But the flag humping boot licking associated with all things americana in today's culture goes directly against UAE/ Saudi Arabia/ etc.
