Messenbrink will never make a US team. Appears this will never end.

Well I’ll be…I caught up on all the post I’d missed and did not see that one at all. I do apologize…maybe I skipped a page? Carry on and ignore me.

You should be very ashamed of being late posting something a day late on a niche message board of a niche sport

Wild statement from Chael. Messenbrink has said some strange things recently.

Chael has always said strange things…lol You know that dude sat around and scripted his pressers…it’s a talent for sure though

I've never heard anything remotely "strange" from that guy.

Or you can look at it with PSU glasses and MM is now 'very zen... fascinating... cerebral'

Personally, I think the guy is a great wrestler but trying way too hard to sound smart and "deep."

I really hope he gets it together, bc he would be a perennial gold medal contender, but I also have genuine concerns about his mental health.

Are you telling me the best way to treat mental illness isn't Christianity?

I can only imagine the terrible opinions on anti-depressants that MM would receive from the PSU locker room

No he didn't say that at all. That's your take.

Completely agree but I have no reservations about his mental health and his ability to contend at the highest of levels. I think he’s just trying way too hard to be transformative. Slight form of narcissism and a kid sheltered from the world through his upbringing and successes. I think there’s a chance he hangs it up but it won’t be because mentally he can’t do it all I just think he’ll realize there’s more important things in life…he’s not wrong. Selfishly I’d hate to see it but I get it.

Well, when he's talking on Basch about being driven to tears before and after matches on multiple occasions last year and then he feels the need to take the whole spring/summer/fall off from competition- I get a bit concerned.

Understandably but I think it was a bit dramatized…which I think he’s shown to do in his new phase here. Don’t get me wrong I don’t doubt he has issues but he’s such an immense talent he can take that time off and be good. It won’t hinder him like others.

i will preface this by saying i have not listened to any of the interviews and do not plan to... i would rather eat ground glass than listen to the basch pod...

i like MM as a wrestler, but, his personality just does not grab me (shocking) and that is fine... i can just appreciate him from a pure wrestling standpoint...

i think all this "mental health" stuff is being a bit overplayed here, but, drama llamas love to do that...

could it just be a case of HEW and the young man is ready to move on?

he has competed on an extremely high level for a long time and he might just be ready to move on in life, but, still being pushed by literally everyone to continue and it could be causing internal conflict...

there is nothing worse than being "forced" to do something your heart is just not into...

and too many "fans" can not even fathom that someone with that much talent could possibly be just not that into it anymore...

absolutely no shame in that...

only the true psychos can keep this sport up at a high level for much longer than 10 years...

Maybe. I think his issues are “dramatized”as well.
