If this dummy nerd Askren can establish some credentials in the Who Has Done It thread I will consider his opinion, otherwise he has no standing to participate in a free wrestling board.

(Yes, I get it, he's not anonymous, so his First Amendment rights are not revoked, even if he is a nerd and a dummy for being so obviously and totally wrong about the world's only sport.  I'm just trying to make some light of the Mariana Trench depths to which this has all sunk.)

How dare you call someone who self-identifies as autistic a dummy!

His innovative and entrepreneurial strengths are not inconsistent with that.  But he is still an ignorant nerd dummy.

Kidding aside, he pointed out the elephant in the room on that video, which is that, while anyone who isn't interested in Greco has the option of ignoring the silliness in these forum threads, that doesn't mean that Greco won't effect your preferred brand of wrestling otherwise, because Greco takes some of the limited number of Olympic spots.

So now you’re going off the credentials of your friends?

And didn’t you say you were going back to sleep?

We still don't have a good definition to give him.

Someone who doesn’t use an ellipsis after every sentence?

I listened to the clip. Nothing particularly insightful or of substance was said. What came across to me was that he did not grow up with greco, so he finds it weird. Fair enough, but it's a dismissive sentiment that a non wrestling person would have to freestyle or folk.

I don't agree that greco is somehow contrived or an accident of history. A grappling style focused on the upper body is a natural rule set to land on. It would be strange if we did not have a sport very similar to modern greco.

I was wondering if maybe he would make an analogy with pickleball, since I don't think the two sports are analogous at all. Nope, a half second throw away line.

he doesn't have to make a bunch of great points. Greco isn't relevant to folk or free and few care about it, the smoking gun has been public forever.

add trips to greco and it becomes very pertinent and we'd spur a lot of innovation. Who cares if it undermines our potential at worlds, most croatian gas station attendants can beat our best guys.

In defence of our greco world team, we lose cause our team is untalented and inexperienced, because everyone gravitates to free, you have to find a way to change that if you're going to say our world team should matter at all.

It’s gotta be liberating to finally admit the top tiered wrestlers do not stick with Greco.

Given your lack of credentials not sure your opinion as to why is relevant

You are so awful at this…

our top tier Greco guys in the US would be successful in the women’s style if they had wanted to be but they choose Greco instead…

most of our top free guys wrestled Greco coming up but realize to beat even just our top guys who go all in (not even considering the world) they would as well and they choose the easier style…

it’s really that simple…

I fully understand anyone who was shit to begin with find that impossible to comprehend but it does not make it any less true…

Define “successful.” Just looking at some guys that actually wrestled some D1, you think Brady Koontz, Ryder Rogotzke, and Zac Braunagel could be top 3 on the freestyle ladder?
