As I’ve been saying to lbj. The more talented wrestlers end up going to the more popular forms of wrestling in the USA. It’s just reality.
LJB Posted July 20 Posted July 20 300,000 high school wrestlers 14 weights top 20 = 280 wrestlers at any one time who are ranked top 20 i am not what would be considered legit rankings but i would say Flo, Intermat, and WIN…ill add some more just because I really don’t know… to be ranked top 20 in one of 4 possible rankings = 1120 wrestlers so, to be ranked nationally at any one time puts a wrestler in the top 0.004% of high school wrestlers… 0.004% is not elite nor even just a “top” wrestler in high school? anonymous forum nerds are gonna anonymous forum nerd every single time…

But there was barely a peep about him leaving, I honestly didn’t even realize he was no longer there until a couple days ago.

As an Iowa fan I don’t remember the recruit specifically. Who was at 141 / 149 at the time ? The article says 2024 we had two AA candidates there already. Bailey and block looked solid going into the year. One AA and one r12 I think. No home at the inn.

A larger number of talented wrestlers being in the style with more participants isn’t really a revelation… but you are off base thinking the style with more participants has the wrestlers with more talent. Believe it or not, there are actually very good wrestlers who prefer Greco, but go the folkstyle/freestyle route knowing it’s the safer/easier route because the margin for error to get an opportunity in Greco is so small. You’re saying these guys who weren’t confident they’d make it in Greco and choose folk/free are better than the ones who do make it. That doesn’t make sense.
