ugh...

American Greco has enough ignorance to deal with from mouth breathers who almost qualified for state as a senior in High School thinking they should be able to voice an opinion because the internet gave everyone a platform...

there is an entire sub forum where you two can engage in the type of actual bigotry you both enjoy... not only is it totally accepted there, but, actually it is encouraged to sound like an ignorant fool...

Let's all give Greco a break from that...

I can appreciate the skill involved, but Greco takes an experienced eye to fully enjoy. In the U.S., there’s also very little crossover between the top NCAA wrestlers and the Greco national team. Most of the athletes on the team are people that 95% of the wrestling community has never even heard of. It’s never going to be popular among the fans so people don’t care.

This and the following posts are perfect encapsulations of this and other similar threads. There are actually very few people in these discussions who say mean things about Greco, but anyone who tries to make a nuanced point that doesn't toe the weird, weird Greco line to the hilt is talked down to with obtuse, personal attacks sprinkled in with emojis . . .  and . . . ellipses . . . as I was . . . when I made a version of your argument above before . . .

The truth is that your post is factual and exactly correct -- indisputable, in fact.  And it makes its point diplomatically, when it could have been more direct about pointing out that Greco in the U.S. is generally a route that one would take when you realize you aren't good enough to win a college folkstyle or senior level freestyle national championship, but you might have a shot in Greco, just like in a lot of communities people who know they're not good enough at baseball to make varsity seek out weaker competition and switch to lacrosse so that they can make a team and play.

this is just factually incorrect...

do you know anyone on the senior greco team or even on the ladder?

would you like a run down of some notables wrestling history?

because it does not bear out your silly assumption...

i will also add, if greco was the path for those who realize they can not win in the minor leagues or on the senior leg grabbing circuit then greco would have exponentially more participation in america...

story time boys and girls...

i had a long conversation with Troy Nickerson years ago that covered a variety of topics... at one point he brought up how many fargo greco titles he won and he actually preferred greco, but, there just were not any opportunities for him to wrestle greco so he kept wrestling folk and went to college instead...

he was a 5X HS state champ, 6 (i think) fargo titles in free and greco... NCAA champ and 3X AA...

he preferred greco growing up...

around the same time frame i had a long conversation with Alex Dierenger and ringer admitted to me he prefered greco and would have followed that path but their just were not any opportunities for him, so, he continued folk and went to college...

3X NCAA champ... has a senior national free title...

he preferred greco growing up...

Kind of supports my point, doesn’t it? The sport isn’t popular, so the best wrestlers don’t pursue it. I don’t see any realistic way for its popularity to grow unless it develops a stronger connection to NCAA wrestling and I don’t see that happening.

Troy Nickerson may love Greco, but the majority of the wrestling community doesn’t care.

Again responding to a post that had zero animus against greco, and was descriptive not pejorative while just stating an obvious truth, with the usual:  a weird obtuse question, a personal insult (same one used over and over) with a gif, and a bunch of misplaced ellipses.

You’ve gotta remember, LJB’s kids are Greco guys, and he takes a ton of pride in that. Hell, I’ve seen him compare himself to Philip II of Macedon…. Yes, really.

What he doesn’t realize is that his entire persona on this site is a good example of the difference between Greco and Free. Could you imagine if Dake or Lee’s parents were on here acting like that? They never would because it would be a bad look, but for Greco, no one cares.

Some people can’t handle the truth.

Do you know any of the senior Greco guys or not?
