What is going on with him? I know his shoulder looks banged up, but is this a case of too much too soon? The kid is an absolute stud, but he is not wrestling well right now.

I’m not sure he qualifies for NCAA’s at this point. Getting majored by Jordan Titus does not bode well for him.

He's a tough kid, but some of the wrestling media people were overhyping him a bit early on.

To be fair he was in a 3-2 match with woods early. Hype was warranted based on those optics.

But looking back at the Woods match, does that now look more like Woods being rusty than Swiderski hanging tough with him?

Or is it more of Swiderski injured?

Regression?

Hot start for an ‘unknown’ , now tape it out?

Freshman wall?

After the Parco win and close loss to Real Woods, I was hearing national finalist by some.

Let's pump the brakes there a bit and let him get some matches in.

It was a 2 point match with like 10 seconds left and he tried to go big and ended up on his back for 6 and the major at the buzzer pretty much

I *think* it could be a cut issue. He wrestled last HS season at 152, if I recall correctly.

D1 is a grind, especially if he's cutting hard.

Of course, it could just be the grind. Guy is a true freshman, he was bound to take some lumps. It happens.

all valid points. I think he IS tough as a boot, but it could be the grind combined with the weight cut.  No way he was ever going to be a finalist, but I will be honest, I thought he might slide in as an AA.  Titus match was closer than the score reflects, but Titus is not a world beater by any means. Big 12's will be interesting at that weight.

I think we have seen this many times where a freshman is tough out of the gate, but as several have said, they start to wear down because of the grind. In HS, a kid of that caliber might go a month before even going to the 2nd period,  now he's fighting for every point in the room and in competition. It's a battle that they have not seen.... and it goes on..... foorrreeevvvveeeerrrrr.

It appears to, as usual with these circumstances, many factors: Injury + physical style + some slight overinflation of early results (notably the previously mentioned close loss to Real Woods in Swiderski's highest profile match) + typical freshman growing pains.
