Wall Street Journal article (paywall removed)

How a Youth Wrestling Club Became a Multimillion-Dollar Gambling Operation: The $2 billion ‘e-tab’ gold rush in states like North Dakota is keeping sports leagues, tourism bureaus and other nonprofits afloat

Makes sense to take advantage of legalized gambling? Well let's look under the hood. Christian values from Mr. gross amiright? American Jesus is Trained to worship the almighty dollar.

guy, instead of being a jealous anti religion clown, be happy that wrestling is getting some money. don't be so judgemental. loser.

The good book says otherwise about gambling and so does its' flock. I'm not anti-religion but I am anti-hypocrite.

I’ve been to my churches gambling night.   What I didn’t like is they changed the odds to be more in their favor.  For example even money payouts on blackjack instead of 3:2.

Jesus does not need better odds than Vegas lol

I love calling out hypocrites as much as the next guy.  But I wouldn’t necessarily jump to the conclusion that Gross is personally involved in the gambling stuff, although the club doing that may be how they had money to hire him.

If you're going to quote the good book, you might take a closer look.  It doesn't mention gambling.

I didn't read the article (paywall), but I'm not seeing the issue here based on the screenshots.

Hypocrisy is a human characteristic. It's not limited to people who claim to be religious, even if those tend to be the easiest to identify because they cite things like the bible as justification for their decisions.

If a wrestling club is smart enough to build out the infrastructure it takes to pull in $3M+ in revenue to fund its operations and hire qualified people, good for them. They must have one hell of a set up and well-paid people with all the cash flowing in.

It doesn’t mention a lot of things that we can rationally apply the principles it teaches towards. Gambling in itself may not be sinful until you start to get greedy, give money priority over your life, trust in luck over God, being responsible with the resources God has given you etc etc. All principles (and others) that can be tied directly to gambling without saying gambling.

And suddenly....just like that.... the gambling machine industry stock went up 200% and every mid-level team was in the NIL hunt.

Isn’t bingo basically a form of gambling?  Haven’t schools like Christiansburg VA been doing this forever?

Are you asking from a biblical stance or in a more generalized way?

I'm sure Jesus still loves you with all that anger and hate in your heart.

But if you want to test that, I'm happy to meet you anywhere you like so you can say that to my face. Clown.
