The committee hasn't even proposed anything yet - haha.

I tried to warn of this.... I really did.

Trump told the outlet. "I haven't seen anything. I don't know anything about it. That's too bad, but I just know nothing about it."

Challenge and review processes could use improvement.

Make it illegal for wrestlers to grab their opponent's shoe unless going for a pin. When shoe is grabbed, ref starts a 3 count, then it's stalling if not released.

Happy April Fools. Rules committee made their changes last year and we live with them for 1 more. The FOLLOWING year (changes are every 2 years) they can reconvene to fix (or damage) the sport further.

Stalling needs to be addressed. Some very specific and very draconian measures have to be explicitly spelled out to give the refs cover to make the calls.
Backing up. Dropping to a knee. Finger grabbing/interlacing/locking that was pulled last cycle was possibly the dumbest thing they’ve done in a while and needs to be reinstated and with penalties (ie stall calls and/or pts).

All these things need to be spelled out explicitly in the rules to provide cover for the refs - wrestler A backs up and drops to a knee off the whistle, immediate warning followed by stall calls for each infraction - refs need cover and if that happens, guys maybe get dinged 3-4 times in the 1st 15-20 secs of a match.
Locking up the fingers - immediate warning and stoppage, stall calls and/or pts every time after - certain teams wrestling against a certain team need to wrestle or they face a lot of penalty points early and often.

Refs need to get very involved in matches early to right the ship and drive future behavior, both in matches and over the course of a season.

Doing away with the finger grabbing prohibition last year was a big mistake in my book. I really think they need to bring it back in some form. This was what the Rules Committee said as to why they did away with the rule:

"l. Interlocking Fingers in Neutral Position (Rule 5.8.1). (1) Recommendation. To eliminate the Interlocking Fingers in Neutral Position infraction. (2) Effective date. Immediately. (3) Rationale. This situation can naturally occur during a wrestling match and the referee is currently tasked with calling a stalemate on the first offense and then penalizing a wrestler for stalling for subsequent violations. It is both challenging and difficult, if not impossible, for the referee to ascertain which wrestler initiated this position and with the current rule, may result in a wrestler being unfairly penalized."

Deciding who to penalize under the previous rule doesn't seem that difficult to me. Most of the time the same wrestler grabbing the fingers is also the one blocking off, backing up, dropping to a knee, etc. It is overwhelmingly used by the wrestler who is trying to avoid action, i.e. stalling. There is a reason freestyle doesn't allow it, as it slows down matches and rewards the defensive/stalling wrestler. Here is the UWW rule on it:

"Anytime the refereeing body agrees a wrestler is blocking, interlocking fingers, thwarting his opponent and/or generally avoiding wrestling: the referee signals to the wrestler “Caution blue or red”. First offence, the action is stopped briefly to give a verbal warning (V): “Attention”. Second offence: the action is stopped briefly to designate the guilty wrestler and a 30-second mandatory-score period begins."

In my opinion, the UWW rightfully includes "interlocking fingers" in the broader category of what folkstyle calls stalling. Bringing back the prohibition should be a priority.

Eliminate tech falls

I kinda like the idea of a 1 second nearfall

If there is no scoring action after the 1 minute mark  the  whistle is blown and the first period starts again at 3 minutes.  This keeps happening if referee and side judge concur no action.

damn it's April second already

A good plan ... save it for next year.
