Something to keep in mind with Stanford and the Ivy Leagues is they don’t transfer until they get a degree

I think Michigan makes sense for Braeden Davis

Swiderski as well.

Garvin to Michigan?

Those are the three I think, at least.

Garvin, Swiderski, Davis

I am not saying one or any of them might transfer, as I don’t know their situations, but Provo, Cardenas and Garvin will be RS seniors. I hope they are all able to get into a Stanford graduate program though.

edit to add Garvin should get a medical so he would have two years.

Garvin has been heavy rumored to Michigan for a long time.

Then it was made known that the Mantanona brothers were going 174/184 and Bullock also transferred out.  The Garvin whispers died down a bit.

Doesn’t mean Garvin isn't leaving, but I rather doubt it would actually be Michigan, if so.  I am just stirring the pot.

Franek, Teemer, Parco, Peterson, Bailey, Williams all went down (Peterson was a 3x NQ and made it no further in the tournament than he did previously)

Caliendo, Buchanan and Woods went up...

Did I miss anyone?

Franek went down?

They have Sahakian #1 HWT coming out of highschool, who redshirted this year. I think they need to focus on filling those 125-141 & 197 holes. It’s not okay for Michigan to only send 6 guys.

Crazy how they sent 6 and 5AAs and finished  7th overall. Great tournament from them

They have Lemley at 49, and I think I’d take Moses Mendoza over Davis when he comes in at 41

I think Provo makes more sense for MI than Swiderski. And I love Ski

Just the Michigander in me wanting him back home.

Im calling Joey Novak home to Minnesota.

Works for me!  As long as we address 133 and a middle weight too (157 or 165), depending on what spot Millard takes next year.

Michigan has now had a different transfer heavyweight AA (and finish higher than at their previous school) three years in a row.  Who do they get next year?   Does Amos still have eligibility?

I think they roll with Sahakian next year.

They will have to bring someone in at 25 unless they think Henry is ready as a true freshman.  I think Mendoza and Wolbert slide in as true freshman at 33 and 41.  We'll see.....

LOL.... Wrestlers win national titles at Stanford and get a top notch education. That would be a lose lose

Given the overall state of the Iowa program, this great unexpected tourney performance aside, not sure why a kid winning at Stanford and with Stanfords performance this year would seek greener pastures?? In 2-3 yrs from now with degree in hand is a totally different equation.

I think it's more likely Moses goes 33 next year.

MI needs a 25, 65 and 97.

I hope Millard hits the weights real hard and comes back as a full feed 165. He seemed to have a few duals this year where he came into it totally drained.

Totally agree.  I’m expecting to see him at 165 next year and think that is a good choice for him.

OMG, I'm tired of the coaching them up or down argument when it comes to transfers.  The last Iowa champ was transfer.  The only finalist this year was a transfer.   Cael can't coach up anyone either, based on transfer performance either.

I read all this anecdotal evidence, but the reality is that the transfers have all been wrestling for 8-15 years before they arrive.  They have 1-4 years of collegiate experience.  There isn't much "up" potential when they arrive on campus.  They are free agents.  You get what you get. It is much more likely they peaked right before the transfer if they were an AA.

Iowa didn't fare well compared to say Michigan, but it was more due to injuries than bad coaching.  Plus, a lot of wrestlers from other conferences come into the Big 10 with great W-L records and all of a sudden don't shine as much.

I think bumping up and another healthy offseason working with Kemerer will do wonders for him. I think the same for Riddle and Nelson. They just need to be healthy going into the offseason and work with Kem and Eggum on some consistent attacks and better leg defense.

Ideally a 1 year transfer at 157 while Rowe redshirts, and whatever they can find at 133. Volk has a year while the Friederichs twins redshirt. A combo of Dekraker, Vanier and Vombaur to handle 141 and 149.

Glad you agree about Riddle and Nelson.  I’m still pretty bullish on those guys.  With a couple of strategic transfers at 133 & 157, I think we could have a really strong team next year.

I could see them Rolling with Gilcher (health depending) he was solid in the minimal matches he has.

I know no smoke to that, just wishful thinking.
