Maybe Bouzakis is smaller than I think but why does nobody think he’d be an effective 141?

Guy was 137 second day of NCAA’s. Have to imagine he’s 150ish when he’s not cutting?

He’s got elite level strength as a 125, great to elite strength for a 133, average to maybe slightly above average strength for a 141. The real problem is he relies on that strength too much in the lower weights and his mat awareness and technique can be sub optimal at times.

For sure. I just can’t see the guy sustaining 125 again. Maybe they put him on a pitch count until late February.

He’s coming out and half jokingly said he wanted to kill himself going 125 and won’t do it again unless it’s Freestyle. You can’t have Davino give up his best chance at a title at 133 to go AA at 141. It sucks but Davino doesn’t really have the build to go up and take Jesse’s spot either. You just got to see what Kevin Enchelmeyer can do with Bouzakis bump up and go from there.

I have been thinking on this and I have come up with what I think is a good 133 solution for everyone.

Davino transfers to IL where there is a strong history of winning titles at 133, Bouzakis moves up and can hold weight for three days to finally AA, and @2001Hokie keeps thinking Seidel can break through.

Bouzakis should have transferred last season and given you another title at 133...🤫

Crazy thought - but with Davino taking some losses to Forest and Blaze, could he consider dropping to 125?  Solved a lot of lineup problems and gives him a better shot at a title

I'll take 2026 Byrd over hypothetical 133 Bouzakis any day of the week

I don't trust Bouzakis to make 157 by the time Sunday rolls around

How often do wrestlers cut this sort of weight? I would assume this cut doesn’t happen too often, and when it does or probably doesn’t end well.

I realize hindsight is always 20/20, but what were he and the coaches thinking?

Pretty straightforward from Bouzakis' standpoint - either sit on the bench behind Davino and Mendez for a year, or give 125 a go to see what he can do. I'm sure it was his decision at the end of the day when presented with those options.

You were the one begging for Davino. I offered Bouzakis...

I’d pull Bouzakis back and offer Kilkeary now

Kilkeary is a better 125 option than Bouzakis....

Suriano cut a ton of weight and won a title his senior year. He only wrestled second semester i believe.  Bouzakis should do the same.  He would only have to hold his weight down for half the time.

I'm offering Davino a chance to train with a proven 133 national champion coach. If you really love and want the best for someone, sometimes you need to let them free.

But he’s training with a (2x) National Champion at 133 now…who also won (2) titles at 141. Oh and training with Mendez….and of course (2x) champion in Jaggers at 141…I mean I think they have experience in and around 133 covered.

I'm praying this was a horrible joke because its at the intersection of stupid and cringe.

Streebler is a one time champ at 133 and Illinois has won three titles at 133 since tOSU won their last (Streebler by way of robbery). Facts can be hard.
