Knock-ons from the Bulgaria decision
GrandOlm replied to wrestle87's topic in International Wrestling
Maybe you were referring to other wrestlers (I think Bulgaria does have at least two or more caucasian wrestlers), but the other half of the famous duo, Novikov, is slavic not caucasian. He is a relatively rare ukranian transfer. Bulgaria probably has a stronger local wrestling culture (due to their past as the crown princes of greco and sold freestylers) that can throw its weight around and stick up for itself more than other transfer havens like Poland, Serbia, or Azerbaijan. So this might be a one off. But 75% of Euro freestyle gold and silver medalists being Russians in disguise, well that's not what wrestling's leadership wants. -
Bono is a joke

No they give extensions every year at the end of the season. It isn't a 5 year extension. They just keep adding a year onto the end, but they can fire him whenever and are not obligated to pay him the rest of the deal. - Today

I believe coming out of high school he wanted to stay as close to his hometown as possible. St. Cloud State was less than a half hour away and the Mpls just a bit further. Maybe after a couple years in college he has changed his mind. Both of the Dakota schools would keep him somewhat close (3-4 hours). Missouri and Oklahoma would both be good fits if he’s willing to really leave his home area. He must have some familiarity with Roger Kish and Roger needs a win badly. I’ll say Oklahoma makes it happen.

Where do you all think this will go long term both within Bulgaria and in the mercenary market more broadly. First blush without changes, this shift in domestic sentiment in bulgarian wrestling immediately puts two caucasian transplants out in the cold permanently. This has potential to really catch fire imo. Given that russia and the US are the only major exporters of wrestlers in the citizenship for sport market, do you think this will have the ability to impact the michigan crew or the team mexico team puerto rico wrestlers? Amine is apparently on a coin, so I assume he’s safe.

awkward sentence but bringing in established guys isn’t in the same thing as bringing in same recruits
-
why would anyone consider wrestlers transferring from a coaches prior school as being the same as hs recruits coming in as the same as high school recruiting a class of “new” recruits?

win what and when?

Brands 2005 class at VT was #2 Metcalf, #19 Borschel, #24 Slaton, and #40 LeClere. Total 6 AA finishes, 3 titles. Zalesky had a decent class at Iowa in 2005. #11 Morningstar, Keddy (NR), Erikson (NR), Dennis (NR). Total 9 AA finishes, 0 titles. Sanderson may have had the best class in 2005 too. #4 Sanderson, #5 Mueller, #10 Varner, #13 Gallick, Zabriskie (NR), Fanthorpe (NR). Total 12 AA finishes, 3 titles.

He wasn't the same year as Metcalf and co. Metcalf was class of 2005 and Murphy was 2006. Murphy didn't lose a year because he wasn't a transfer.

so concentrationy campish

here is how you get on the terror watch list
-
Not just me but the general public and most of the government too. If you know then please elucidate it for everyone. The terrorist watchlist has almost 2M people on it. I am many don't know how they got on or how to get off.

Somewhere outside the Big10, where guys shut down his offense pretty easily it seemed. He needs to free up his offense and let the fur fly. He is an offensive dynamo when he isn't worried about defensive reattacks.

Yet. In your infinite wisdom couldn’t make a zillion dollars off a known “future” event. Weird.

It already crashed, depending how you define it. Will it crash more? Depends if Trump continued to cave or stick to his guns. Probably will keep going back and forth, so roller coaster continues

True that it’s very impressive they gave up a year of eligibility to stay with Brands. Honestly, I may have been misremembering some of the details. I remember a lot of controversy around that recruiting class. I was thinking it was mostly because they basically combined with Iowa’s recruiting class to get a double recruiting class. But maybe it was more just that they transferred and VT wasn’t happy.
-
To be fair I’m not anti Iowa, but I’ll crack a joke at any of the big programs. I agree that’s actually very impressive he got some real blue chippers to give up a year of eligibility to wrestle for him. I believe Brands is a great coach and a great recruiter… he’s got a few flaws but so does every coach - even Cael But you have to agree it is a bit ironic that Brands best recruiting class of all time committed to attending VT not Iowa.

It’s crazy difficult to time the market. Don’t lose sight of rv’s know it all attitude. He’s positive it will tank.
-
It is difficult to time the market. You have to be right multiple times to come out better off than just staying in. If you are 100% sure the market is going down, but not 100% sure when then it might not work out in your favour. Similarly if you wait too long to get back in you might lose out. The gains often come just as suddenly as the initial crash and if you're late and miss them it eats into your potential gains. Many people who get scared and sell on the downturn lock in their losses then stay out until things have recovered and miss out on the gains.
