You do realize some upfront spending can create long-term savings? Building a wall reduces border crossing therefore reducing border enforcement costs like detention centers and Border Patrol man hours. Also it saves on the massive budget of social programs these people rely on. This is the strategy behind this budget. Obviously I'm not on top of every dollar but you get the point. Also there are many mandates that need funding.

Both those ages are kids/minors, legally and otherwise. i don't think you're making the point you think you're making. Go back to my example of a 17 vs. 18 year-old. Some 17 year-olds may have the maturity and confidence to stand up for themselves and many 18 or 19 year-olds may not. I'm comfortable calling all college students "kids".

I am by no means an Iowa fan and do not think the Brands get the most out of developing their guys but that mans obsession with trying to dunk on that program is truly insane. He is good for the sport... I think though he drives attention at least.
