What does it say that violent crime, property crime, and failure to appear rates are down in Cook County in the year that the state of Illinois (these are not city initiatives but rather state legislation) enacted this system. They are not down by a lot, but if they're down they can't be up....which goes against what certain media, talking heads, and politicians would have us believe.

Have I got good news for you. Per the Gerrymandering Project who "bridges the gap between mathematics and law" there are fifteen states that get a failing grade (D or F). Of those two create no partisan advantage (Tennessee, Louisiana). Five create a Democratic advantage (Oregon, New Mexico, Nevada, Illinois) Nine create a Republican advantage (Utah, Texas, Kansas, Wisconsin, Ohio, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina) The Democratic bias states have a total of 36 seats. The Republican bias seats have a total of 132 seats. https://gerrymander.princeton.edu/ -

Nobody is going to get arrested for burning a US flag, BLM flag or Pride flag in a peaceful display of freedom of speech. -

What the Executive Order Says (August 25, 2025) 1. Not a blanket ban—but a targeting strategy. President Trump did not outlaw flag burning outright. Instead, the order directs the Attorney General to prioritize enforcement of existing, content-neutral laws—such as those against disorderly conduct, property damage, or public safety violations—when an act of desecration occurs alongside other infractions. 2. No claim of absolute unconstitutionality. The White House emphasizes enforcement only when desecration also causes harms unrelated to protected expression—like incitement of violence—or falls under “imminent lawless action” or “fighting words” exceptions to the First Amendment. 3. Foreign nationals face immigration consequences. Non-citizens who desecrate the flag may face visa revocation, denial of immigration benefits, or deportation. -

It says right there that they did not expand on how this doesn't apply to the first amendment. It also doesn't say anything about how your burning the flag has to cause a riot, just that the act of burning a flag is now going to be prosecuted because it could incite one. Your reading comprehension sucks. -

Didn't do it last night. Most Sundays though, spring to fall. Probably 15 or so per year. Generally just paper flags. Don't want to waste money on fabric ones, plus those fumes are more toxic. -
https://www.freep.com/story/sports/high-school/2025/08/25/okemos-wrestler-suing-girl-body-slammed-boy-practice/85809279007/ Just saw this clip about a gal who got seriously injured in practice. She was 94 pounds, and it sounds like she was wrestling against much larger teammate, and after she was slammed multiple times, they should have been more aware that she was badly hurt. Aside from that, I don't think her being female is quite the issue that is being claimed. It could have easily happened against a boy the same size against the larger kid.

I don't get the "outrage." Companies change their branding and logos. Look at the KIA logo change. -

I don’t think I made that claim. @Offthemat made the claim that Dems do it more, but refused to back it up. I did provide some math disputing it. I think both sides probably do it about the same, I don’t know for sure but if I had to pick one I’d bet Republicans do it more, which was supported by the data I shared.

Burning a US flag "in a manner that is likely to incite imminent lawless action or that is an action amounting to “fighting words.” Democrats will spend the next months fighting to retain the right to incite lawless action by burning a US flag. -

I think that's IF a riot is incited. I'm pretty sure my Sunday flag burning parties are still fine as long as it doesn't turn into a "riot." That never happens though at my parties. Just good people cheering, laughter, listening to good music and a few drinks.
