It is the for the most part. I've been down there plenty of times. Was in Gulf Shores in March for example (with the in-laws family). Yah, there was some nice stuff but we agreed that we'd rather go somewhere else next time. And driving through Mississippi and Alabama and Memphis? Some major cesspools. Absolutely horrible.

This is really no different than what people are saying about California or... New York or any state. I just spent a week in rural Georgia. It was...beautiful. I'm not sure I'd want to spend a week in Louisiana in the Bayou, but...still.

It’s actually a canal, not a retention pond. I can take the boat west and head to that big body of water surrounded by sand you see in the other picture. Or…I can take it east, north, or south and pull up to restaraunts, shops, or friends houses, or just chill in the connected lakes. Lots of options. It’s a unique little trait of this area of the cesspool. And….indoor? Vision problems? Who would want indoor around here when you have the beautiful sun 365 days a year??

Need nukes nowadays. They’d never be allowed to have them. And building a navy would be very expensive.

Maybe not if the entire rest of the country ganged up on them, which I guess the wingers would like. But other than that, they have the economic resources to build a pretty nice military and do just fine.
