I find the discussion of the use of hyperbole much more interesting than the poll - which is unanswerable. It is the same as asking, "is fiction just lying?" Of course all fiction is lying in the strictest sense of the word. Aesop's fables are all lies. Whether the writer and reader agree ahead of time to allow the lying does not negate the fact that it is lying. Telling your 90 year old mother she looks great is hyperbole and lying unless you add .". . . compared to all the dead 90 year olds (very weird wording in retrospect) and how you looked the day you got out of surgery and compared to how I expected you to look today". All of that "truth" is not helpful but required to say to be the most perfectly honest person. A much more interesting question is when does hyperbole destroy your own credibility? Now, on the Rep/Dem take by AI - I found it interesting although I think AI is not counting the leftie hyperbolic tendency to call anyone who disagrees with them Hitler, Nazis, Fascists, Phobics, Ists, etc. This is hyperbole. Does it help make the lefties' point and change the behavior of the person they are hyperbolicly describing? No. It simply demonizes, entrenches positions, and is a lie when used for this purpose. My take is that hyperbole can be a useful shortcut to make a point or argument but it must be used gently if you intend to reach a mutually agreeable (or equally mildly distasteful but at least acceptable) conclusion/negotiation, etc. If used for this purpose it is not a lie. Conclusion - intent and degree matter.

I don't understand the question

I wrestled Schmidt, tough as hell. Fried beat Brands, that dude was a bad mofo. Teague is a stud today, he is back into recruiting, and Weigel...GQ that could ride legs. GREAT call here....
-
gosh dang, I another absolute stud, gone too soon!

Could be the lingering effect of the “Don’t” message sent to Putin. Don’t what?
-
Big boles? Yeah. True.

Well people are certainly going to spin it to whatever makes them feel better about it, even though no one knows what was said in that meeting. But one thing can not be debated: Day one is lasting a reeeaaaalllly long time.

I hope someone slipped their own real name into here somewhere - just slid it onto a list and everyone moved past w/o recognizing it

Are we sure this Ferrari is any good/worth the headache? He's on school #5 at this point and has amassed a record of 2 - 1. He wasn't even Long Island's post season starter last year (unsure if someone beat him for the spot or it was off-mat issues). If Morgan St is trying to build a program from scratch - dunno if he's the culture fit you want and I question if he'll deliver on the mat too -

He was an alternate last year at NCAAs right? -
Sad. Who is really in power here? Definitely not a doddering 80 year old who is an alleged teetotaler but can't walk in a straight line.

Hey everyone a cave dweller from a third world shithole with no freedom, rights or due process laughed at my comment.

Have fun getting plowed. It’s been fun owning you.
-
Gotta go, now. The metro isn't going to plow itself. Someone needs to be the superhero. (That's me.) Chow.
-
Ya ya did. It was a couple years back. Even though I’m retired my memory is solid. You’ve called me stupid many times so how could I be smart enough to make it up????..
-
...yet I still haven't admitted nor denied being a snowplow driver. As a kid, I used to have a bright yellow Tonka Mighty Dump truck. Originally made in Mound, MN. Used to imagine driving it all the time. Doesn't mean I have actually driven a real one - or that I haven't. Still. It was the best toy ever.
-
Oh. I know I’ll be fine. And warm while your plowing the night shift in the metro area of Minnesota
-
Probably not the smart ones either in AZ. I won't worry. Think positive. You'll be fine.
-
Now that you’ve come out of the snow plow drivers closet who knows
-
C'mon, try to be nice. We're wrapping up the conversation - no need to start to call me names now.
-
Don’t worry I won’t have to deal with dumbass snow plow drivers in MN
-
Maybe tomorrow we'll cover raising, lowering, and adjusting the angle(s) of the plow. This might turn out to be fun.
