  1. Past hour
  2. Day 2 thoughts. Lee: Tough to watch. It wasn't just that he lost, it's that the Armenian outwrestled him in about 6 straight positions. In most of them, Lee seemed to be caught flat-footed. I hate to sound like a hater but he needs to get out of Iowa City. He just has no practice partners there, and he's not getting the kinds of high-end looks that he needs to get if he's going to run the gamut at Worlds. It seems like the Brands are so worried about eroding his confidence that they have him practicing with cupcakes, and it showed today. Carr: I thought he looked excellent. He gave Valiev all he could handle, and obviously Valiev is one of the best in the world. Many criticized him for attacking Valiev late in the 2nd when all of Valiev's scoring was off counters, but I disagree. Carr scored on him before and can score again. He just needs to make sure he isn't predictable. The match against Sidakov tomorrow should be great. Between Carr and Mesenbrink, this weight is in good hands for the next quad. Haines: I thought I was going to have to go on my bi-weekly rant about Dake not coming down to 79kg where he belongs. But then what happens? Haines takes out the world champ and is in the finals. Welp. I confess I had a DNP penciled in here and I'm so happy to be wrong. Haines keeps great position and his defense is as good as ever, and is turning it on when he needs to. Finals vs the Greek should be great. Hidlay: I've been high on Hidlay a long time and super excited to see him get his shot here, and to see him truly make the most of it. He looks like a man possessed... like a like a guy suffering from roid rage, except without the roids. Chalk him up as the Guy I Want to Wrestle the Least. I think he has a great shot at gold. *** Jax: More of the same. Threw himself into the match and wrestled fearlessly. Got into some positions he wasn't quite ready for, but I loved watching him work his slide by. Tough ending, but very legit opponent. Zahid: I thought he was even more impressive in his gold medal match than against Ghasempour. He wrestled hard all match, with no sign of waning at the end. Compare this match to the tech he took at his hands just 2 years ago, and you can really see how far Zahid has come. Super excited for him as you just know this is a product of him deciding he needed to make a change if he was to reach his goals, and he made it. You reap what you sow.
  3. That is a really tough task, as it stands. Not sure about how Iran looks in finals/repechage tomorrow, but on paper, they kill us in 65/97. And they're already leading.
  4. If any Flo guys are out there, Levi’s quarterfinal video link seems to be broken
  5. Be literal. What did he say that day?
  6. And you probably wouldn’t stop right in the middle of taking over a government to put your feet up on a desk and take pictures would you?
  7. So when you’re implementing an insurrection wouldn’t you bring all those guns with you?

  10. I think I have one instance where folk hurt a guy and a style entirely that it helps. Starting with where it helps, I actually think Levi is better at free than folk now but he wrestles very similar in both styles just feeds hips and hand fights until guys start breaking down. I think that he has developed that style from maybe not being the best scrambler ever in folk so in order to ensure he does not get in drawn out positions when hes in hes learned to either suck the leg in at all costs or break his opponent with the hand fight first. An example where I think it hurt us was Jax vs Uguev. I am not entirely sure this is the case because Uguev did a good job of keeping the leg but when uguev went for that lefty single or pick and jax threw him by and sat the corner he ended up on the back and under the arms which probably still ends up in a 3 and 2 in folk but still a net positive for jax where as it ended up as just 2 for uguev in free. Now I'm not sure that Jax had a better option there he probably scores that on any other guy in the world uguev is just really good at keeping that leg and working through but just a position that came to mind for me. I think folk is great because colleges are associated with it. If colleges remained associated and it changed to free I think it would still be great.
  11. Your family get deported yet? Probably soon. I can feel it.
  12. No one liberal on this board will agree. Is my theory. They won’t even express remorse for the family of the deal people. @1032004 we would like your opinion. What was the right decision here on past arrests?
  13. For the whole sport. Yes. Leave the more popular one alone. We dominate on the world stage. 0 need to mess with folkstyle.
  14. Not sure if you're paying attention but the grim reaper is knocking on the door like a Yonger Bastida meme.
  15. Oh no, much worse. Just like every post of mine.
  16. You know, these games made me realize the value of great coaching Valencia was a second rate wrestler who had not won anything big until now. i don’t know when he switched to having DT as his coach, but DY turned a 28 year old second rate wrestler into a dominating world champion. imagine if Iran had coaches like that to coach all the kids who won cadets and U21. DT himself did not turn into a world beater until he was well into his 20s. Iran guys seem to peak at 20-21 and never improve their wrestling. I attribute that to lack of high level coaching. my choices for Iran national team coach are DT or Carl Sanders. Getting more realistic, my choices are Rassoul Kahdem, Reza Yazdani or Babak the Instagram announcer. i think Babak would be great because he know the US style of wrestling and mentality.
  17. Just leave folkstyle alone. That is all.
  18. Prob had to do with the hog theme?
  19. I have the perfect joke that will *instantly* get me sent to the zoo
  20. To be fair, he is a young kid going against an Olympic and world champion. He should a lot of hear getting a take down when he was down 9-0
  21. So Florida, Texas, and the Feds had him in custody and let him go without deporting him. California is worthless, of course, but this one is not on Biden nor the libs. 2017, 2018, 2025 who was the President and Governors? Every person who let him go back into the American population must face a professional competence review. The justice departments and courts EVERYWHERE IN AMERICA must be reminded with extreme urgency whom they serve and whose process is more due than anyone esle's.
  22. Because the focus is on freestyle and not wrestling 100+ matches every year from the age of 5 on. Everyone has realized that 4x folkstyle champs are myeh on the biggest stages domestically and internationally. Even Willie pointed out how devalued high school pinnacle achievement are if you have any semblance of a bigger goal.
  23. Where does Azapira fit in?
  24. In a way, it's his fault entirely. His achievements will last for many decades, if not centuries. His family will feel otherwise. What do a Russian Tank, a Tazmanian Devil, and Snyder's Hog have in common? He was never able to overcome what they desired most.
  25. You already forget about Jerry Sandusky.
