Just a few days ahead of the release of our recruiting rankings, Iowa made a late push as they picked up a great prospect from the Class of 2025. The #52 overall recruit in the Class of 2025, Claudio Torres (Lake Highland Prep, FL) has flipped from his commitment to Virginia Tech and will sign with the Hawkeyes. Torres finished his high school career ranked sixth in the nation at 165 lbs. He was one of seven National Prep champions in 2025 for Lake Highland Prep. That helped the school earn their first team title at the tournament. The individual championship was the second of Torres’ career. In addition to his National Prep title, Torres also finished seventh at the Super 32, third at the Ironman, and was a champion at the Beast of the East - all during the 2024-25 campaign. All told, Torres was a four-time Fargo placer earning All-American honors twice in Junior freestyle. Torres’ addition now gives Tom Brands’ team four of the top 60 seniors in the nation. He’ll join #7 Leo DeLuca (NJ), #10 Harvey Ludington (NJ), #59 Jarrel Miller (OH), and #146 Ty Miller (OH) in the Hawkeyes Class of 2025. Torres projects at 165 or 174 at the next level. Iowa will certainly need help in 2026-27 at 165 lbs as NCAA finalist Michael Caliendo is getting ready to use his final year of eligibility. A panel of federal judges on Wednesday blocked President Trump from imposing some of his steepest tariffs on China and other U.S. trading partners, finding in two cases that he vastly overstepped his ability to issue those expansive duties under federal law. The ruling, by the U.S. Court of International Trade, delivered an early yet significant setback to Mr. Trump in his campaign to strike a series of agreements that reorient the nation’s trading relationships, setting up a legal fight that could soon reach the Supreme Court. The cases centered on the president’s use of a 1977 federal economic emergency law to issue many of his steep duties, including some of his tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China, and his “reciprocal” rates on much of the rest of the world, which Mr. Trump announced and then suspended in April. The law does not specify tariffs as a tool available to the president to protect the United States from economic threats. But Mr. Trump has invoked its powers anyway, citing a need to take drastic action in response to a wide variety of urgent matters — including the flow of fentanyl into the United States, for example, and the country’s persistent trade deficit with much of the world.

The amount of excuses and apologists are amazing. As someone who has been in education and athletics for decades, I had a feeling there might be repercussions for the suspension. I was ridiculed by blue and white wearing white knights. This consequence wasn't from PSU directly, but if they are aware, they can't be happy. Now the apologists are largely disappearing. I do wonder if DT said: "Thomas, you're not going to be able to coach for a while, I can't employ you." Also weird that we haven't heard about DT misleading USADA about his whereabouts.... Great program, but the most sensitive fan base around. -

Also weird that the podcast hosts were thinking that looking for grey areas and loopholes in the suspension rules was ok. Actually just talking about plain disregard for the rules. -

Also crazy was Willie thinking that Gilman passing three tests in 12 months was a big deal UFC athletes were tested at least five times a year. Some were tested around 30 times a year. The ones that were being tested 30 times a year are generally the ones they are very suspicious about, but they keep passing. Getting someone to test positive during competition is probably the least likely scenario unless it was a weight cutting agent or the cut caused them to fail. - Today

Iranian friends: please help with questions about Hassan Yazdani Charati's name. Recently I have read him referred as "Charati" as if that were his surname. I have heard that Charati is an indicator of the geographic ares he is from. Is the proper way to ref to him "Yazdani", just as we call Kyle Dake "Dake"? I can think of Spanish naming customs where they have an additional surname that is rarely used. For instance, Yoel Romero Palacio is almost always just called "Yoel Romero." Thanks in advance!

Yeah, Willie seems to be of the opinion of "who cares" but it sounds like this suspension is going to affect his ability to coach. I think he said Tony Ramos texted him during the show saying he's not gonna be able to coach if the suspension is held up. Not surprised considering Gilman comes across as quite the idiot / spaz who doesn't think things through. -
Wait.. Jax and Bo are old for their grade? Is this new?
