  1. Past hour
  2. That's brutal. Also, something else that doesn't make sense to me. Ferrari is the #1 ranked guy on Wrestlestat, McEnelly who took 3rd with losses to just Starocci and PK in very close matches is #2, Sinclair is #8, Ryder 12th and Mantanona 6th. I would think they'd want to be at '65 and '74 again given the insane depth and youth at '84, but... Mantanona is probably confident he's in that group... so long as he doesn't have any of the Refs that did the Mantanona's HS State Finals matches at the B1Gs or NCAAs...
  3. Well... just as I said, that they'd make scratch weight for certification. No, we just scooped water out of the toilet and nobody said anything. But that was a while ago, I thought the certification was a bit more... rigorous now. For instance, now we have someone other than our trainer come in and they test(last I heard anyway). Or they didn't test, but alright. Just didn't really make sense to me to have a guy make weight for nothing, especially since... at least WAY back in the in the mid aughts, you could just re-test if you were off. So if you certified at 174.8 or you were too far over, you could wait and... certify later. Like PSU with Kasak, Duke. Safe to assume one will go '57 this year, but Kasak is certified at '74 and Duke isn't in there at 157? Or Nagao. I assumed he was going '41, but he's "certified" at '57. So if they're saying you can only go down one weight from certification... But that's all, it just seems like a miserable experiance, I thought the weight you certified at wa...the weight you could go to, and that first cut and you have to do it hydrated and you have to do it with no match on the line and make scratch weight. For all the guys who haven't Wrestled all off-season or who are going down from where they Wrestled, them getting down, on weight and hydrated... plus my belief that "certified," meant those were the weights they were... certified to Wrestle. That's why is didn't "make sense" to me to do it this way.
  4. Yeah... I remember. I lost two pools because of that match. I took Vito to win it that year. He beat Glory like 19-5 two weeks earlier and then nearly gets majored(or may have gotten majored) the next year. Vito scored pretty clean in the 1st and got in deep, almost scored again. Glory gets the TD in the 2nd, 3-2 and Vito is about to reverse him, he's got a turk in and he's looking for the turn and... I don't remember how they ended up in this position, but Glory was kinda on his side and Vito was on his back... but Vito still looked like he could... I don't know, hip over and score... but he didn't. Instead of 2 for Vito and potential NF, Glory gets 4NF. They go into the 3rd I think 7-5, Vito cuts Glory and he can't get the TD, Glory gets a TD to put it away and then finishes with RT and some final second NF to make it 13-5 maybe? It was hard to imagine Vito wouldn't be able to score on him at will looking at the Conf Finals, but Glory was a big '25 and dug those underhooks out late and Vito didn't have an answer.
  5. Today
  6. Well yeah, obviously. Head, hands defense is... a given at this level of Wrestling. There's not a Wrestler who can be successful without having good head, hands defense. The down-blocking is... certainly not used as much, guys would rather come back up to their feet and re-attack, though I think you've seen a lot of PSU guys, namely Starocci and Brooks who have really dominated that position and scored and beaten guys there. That's one reason I liked how they Wrestled. They were just always in control and they were basic, but they were almost perfect in that. But even they could scramble. Even Hardy, Sasso, Askren... hell, Jaggers, they were head, hands defense first, but they could score if a guy got in on them. The only guy I'd say "invited" it in the biggest matches was Jaggers and he just went on a couple of heaters his Jr and Sr year. I remember a friend of mine calling him the "worst NCAA Champ ever," and I argued a little, but it was a pointless argument. But we're out there watching him win it again and I looked, didn't say a word and he just goes, "pft, worst 2X Champ ever." I understand what you're saying though, some guys are more dangerous counter Wrestlers. Hardy is one of them...Jaggers, Henning from Wisconsin was on his way to an NCAA Championship vs Trent(Travis?) Paulson when he was coming out the back and they blew it for Potentially Dangerous. The same thing he'd been doing all year. And he was very good on top. Not great on his feet(which is why Poeta always beat him) but... he was incredible with that defense. -Also, off-topic, but he was the same guy who was up... 7-2 IIRC on Ben Askren as a Freshmen in the State Finals. Henning had a Brother who was a 3X Champ, should have been a 4X Champ but he got upset as a Jr, so he was well known. Ben was not yet. Askren was down and... my memory may have made this more dramatic... but as I recall, Askren took him down or reversed him with ~25 seconds left, locked up the cradle and spent the last ~15 seconds with Henning on his back. Henning ended up getting the TD in OT, but great match by a couple of Freshmen. I didn't see Lewis enough, but... I was also thinking Abas and Kolat, Guerrero... and I'm sure a lot of others who I've mostly seen via video.
  7. Figured what out? Seems they figured out nothing, you included. "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it." What everyone needs to figure out is that Kimmel wasn't calling out the kid as being MAGA, he was calling out MAGA for trying to distance themselves from this kid.
  8. I think Miller is the much better get. I don't buy that Bartlett is waiting on Miller(or even that they're necessarily a package deal)... but I think Miller has the higher upside. Miller gave Duke a helluva match. I think that's.. pretty telling.
  9. Do you suppose it was another maga guy who shot up the ABC news HQ?
  10. Ok play dumb, the rest of the world figured it out.
  11. Forgive me for not accepting your take on the issue. I've heard way to many ridiculous lies this week. I'm sure this is just another gross exaggeration. It's not like PBS is an unbiased source.
  12. That's where your education lets you down. Nothing could be further from the truth. He clearly didn't say that, nor did he imply that in his actual words. You are twisting reality here.
  13. He was clearly try to paint him as a maga guy. It was obvious to most people. He was trying to sell a lie
  14. Nothing, and I mean, nothing about what Kimmel said amounted to anything "vile." Kimmel simply said: "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it." Wake up people, nothing about what he said is vile or terrible in any way. Nothing at all directed at Kirk. Wasn't attacking Charlie, wasn't celebrating his assassination, wasn't defending the shooter. He was criticizing the far right maga group for trying to benefit from the political fallout. Seems he was pretty close to exactly right.
  15. You can only change your competing nationality once.. so if Russia-Bulgaria transfer is complete (and I assume it can't be rolled back if the money is paid, documents exchanged etc), then Mamedov is stuck with Bulgarian wrestling nationality forever.
  16. Also did you notice that the 60; killings by the Left Wing Las Vegas shooter didn't make it under the proper heading.
  17. Top 5 cities in the us with the highest Muslim population and their mayors. Some of the mayors aren’t even Muslims…. Well not a lot of them. How are the Muslims voting here again? Red or blue. Dearborn, MI β€” Abdullah H. Hammoud β€” Democratic Houston, TX β€” John Whitmire β€” Democratic Minneapolis, MN β€” Jacob Frey β€” Democratic-Farmer-Labor (Minnesota Democratic Party affiliate) Hamtramck, MI β€” Amer Ghalib β€” Democratic Paterson, NJ β€” Andre Sayegh β€” Democratic
  18. I'm starting to think the stupid thing isn't an act. They party that says violence is acceptable at a rate several times that of conservatives and burns down cities and robs liquor store, shoe stores, and Verizon store in the name of social justice also commits violence at and incredibly higher rate.
  19. That's not how they voted and that's a fact. They are very much anti capitalism and love government programs for marginalized persons. They are the perfect example of Democrats buying their votes with the my money.
  20. Did I say good? Silly me. Bad. I meant bad. In the least surprising development ever, the man whose incompetence was revealed by a free press exercising our First Amendment rights, has announced a new policy to trample on the First Amendment. The Department of War on the First Amendment (DoWotFA) has a new policy requiring the press to sign a pledge saying they will not publish anything without the DoWotFA's approval, not even unclassified information, like say a story about the head of the DoWotFA using unsecure messaging on a government phone where a reporter has been invited into the chat, for example. https://www.npr.org/2025/09/20/g-s1-89713/pentagon-new-strict-guidelines-for-media But don't anyone worry. They will surely stop before any of YOUR rights are trampled.
  21. This is why the earlier comment that he should wrestle more tournaments makes good sense. Combine that with his remark in the interview about how many more worlds Snyder has competed in. Obviously worlds are just once a year but I think he needs more matches. He says he's way better in practice. This is not uncommon in sports. The remedy is to compete in non practice situations more. He is not someone who has showed a lot of ability to adapt in challenging matches, I think he would be well served to get more reps outside the practice cocoon. Again, this is very common in many sports. There's only one way to replicate competition which is to enter competitions.
  22. We were both wrong it was Cerro Polado. Oh well, my point stands, and I don't really think "tough pool!" is any different than "Russian expat every round" like is seen in the current model. My comment about Fisher was tongue in cheek. He was the last person in the US to beat Smith and also the last to beat Brands. Popular guy I would reckon.
  23. Well his uncle also let his dad go (it was time) so ...
  24. I agree with real woods being most surprising. He seems to have jumped levels quickly considering he was in a couple nailbiters just to make the team at wtt. Levi is pretty surprising as well. I think we have several guys better than him at the weight and if he didn't perform well it would have been a bitter pill to swallow. Not surprised at all with Jax and Zahid after watching they way they handled Vito and Dake. Helen and Snyder have been doing this for a minute, it's just what they do. We all knew Trent was capable, glad he was able to put it all together and get it done.
  25. Gonna be junior- the only one I’m familiar with. His win over Hendricks in 07 was a heck of a battle. There’s just something about the special moments in wrestling - such as Perry finally beating the guy his uncle recruited over him.
  26. Remains believed to be found https://nypost.com/2025/09/18/us-news/remains-believed-to-be-travis-decker-found-three-months-after-murder-of-three-young-daughters/
