If we land Stiles I like it but not sure where that puts Bouzakis.
You mean Munaretto? I am not as familiar with the impact it would have on OSU's lineup but I don't see how Stiles addition would impact Bouzakis?

So looking at the question differently. And this goes for all recruiting classes, but isn't it more important to stack consecutive classes (2-3 years) than having 1 great class?
I think to Iowa's 2020 and 2021 teams and I it was not it one class but the combination of the Kemerer's class and the Lee' class that made them a title team.
To think of it differently, yes it would be impressive to land 4-5 of the top 10 on a big board in one class, but there a still a few guys who "under perform" in all classes, but it you need 2 guys who produce every year.
Ohio State's 2022 class had 3 of the top 5 on the big board, but they have yet to challenge for a title and only produced a 4th place finish in 2023 in large part because their top recruits in 2021 and 2023 haven't provided meaningful points (Rocco did be has now transferred).
I guess my question is really, what does it really matter who is TnT's best class if 1 indiviudual class doesn't correlate to success?

Well you can trust Basch. Who the ***duck** is Jawn Cena?

do we really believe this Jawn Cena guy? He has 115 followers. Just because he made a graphic does not make it real.
No need to besmirch all of the "content creators" on wrestling twitter where making a graphic is the gold standard!

Not sure what I would've done if this scenario was presented to me coming out of high school. An extra year of physical maturity would've definitely helped me in my wrestling career. But, I would've been bored out of my mind without classes or work.
I could be wrong, but I thought the Cornell kids take their gap years taking classes at Finger Lakes CC? Since they can't redshirt they still have 4 years of eligibility and I think a recent court ruling doesn't count community college against eligibility (should they graduate early and want to transfer). Does anyone know if that is correct?

Does MP still have money for food? Can any do a welfare check?
I don't think he has posted since the announcement, hopefully he didn't have to cut internet to fund the deal.

All Good points but what if the top teams opt out? Just change the Name is all I'm saying.
The top teams was invited. If a wrestlers is called to the mat but doesn't show up its a forfeit, you don't change the name or invalidate the guy who ended up winning.
PSU doesn't want to put their foot on the line, fine, but they don't then get to say the name should be changed. If PSU wants to be the National Duals Invite champs then they can show up, but they are choosing to let someone else win that title.

To be honest, I have no problem with PSU not participating. There will be fun individual matchups that we don’t get, but there’s now more parity between the competing teams. If everyone but Penn State participates, we are still getting a fun and competitive event that I look forward to.
It's certainly their choice, but there is no need for them to make comments like its not a real national duals or downplay the event because they didn't accept the invitation.
It's a chance to grow the sport and create a cool event. . Cael doesn't think it helps his team win NCAAs in March so they are not going regardless of the impact it could have.
I agree it's fine that they don't want to go, but its telling that everyone thinks this is a good idea.

I'm not surprised that Penn State isn't doing this. I'm a little surprised at what salty b I t c h e s some of the fans are being about the event daring to exist.
At this point, I don't think you should be surprised by this behavior from PSU fans, it more par for the course.

I don’t think that was the point of it. I’d say the point was to confirm that he did actually leave and where he’s going. I don’t really get the hate for the lack of details, he shared way more than almost any other coach would have IMO
By hate you must mean when I say "I do enjoy it"

Back to portal news, because if I don't stick to the topic I'll be a hypocrite.
Do we think any UNI guys follow Roper to OSU? I know he's well liked. Keckeisen loved him. Does he make the move to Stillwater to train RTC?
OkST roster is pretty full so it might be tough to take a college guy. I would think the Georgia guys might be the most inclined to follow Roper but not sure where they would fit.

Why not...
Agree OkSt should try and make their RTC as strong as possible.
Assume Keck is going 86 and would compete with Zahid.

Is there a class that college coaches take where you learn to speak for for few minutes, allude to something indirectly without actually saying anything and then act like you spelled it out perfectly? It's almost like listening to Tom Brands speak. I do enjoy it, but find it funny that he goes on a podcast and after no one knows why he really left, the point of the podcast was to explain it not just talk for 30 min

I'm betting i know a lot of things no one else knows. Can I make a business out of that?
If you take pictures you didn't take and put that information in text over it after the info is public, then you might have a business

Who said HOF? I was just saying the guy is a good coach, when @bnwtwg said he wasn't.
Yes, the HOF was intended to be hyperbole but you were flabbergasted that there is still wide range on his potential has a coach. He did a good job coaching 1 of 10 guys for 1 season.
Chertow was an assistant on a runner-up team and that being Gilman's floor is not crazy.

You serious? Troy Spratley went from R12 to national finalist (with a win over the dude that beat Spencer Lee) and sounded like he was working almost exclusively with Gilman. I'd say the dude can coach, and coach well.
He should get credit for Spratley but 125 is such a toss up weight. He was at PSU last year when Davis didn't AA and none of their other lightweight at OSU AA'd, including 133 who didn't qualify for NCAAs.
He did a good job this year but he has only coached for 1 year. Let's not put him in the HOF of coaches just yet.

And I thought when they were called Okie Lite it was offensive because of the "Lite" part so I always try and be respectful and call them Okie State.

Unless you want to go down the donor dinner rumor mill, the most likely story is he wants to go back closer to his wife's family and didn't love coaching enough to continue to make the sacrifice.

I'm guessing Pinto didn't like the cut down to 174. He dwarfed Haines. I was kind of shocked to see how much bigger he was in comparison.
I actually thought Pinto looked better at 174 once he got acclimated to the weight. He always seemed a little puffy at 184. Haines was coming up from 157 so while I think he filled out the weight well, I don't know if he was the biggest 174 either.

UNC is a good school but its not impossible to get into. Has admissions standards similar to Michigan and other top B1G schools. Plus they make exceptions for really good basketball players, I am sure they can get AJ in, who probably has a respectable transcript.
I assume UNC main donor/NIL person s the guy that lured Koll to comback. I haven't seen the rumor of AJ's deal, but I would almost bet its going to be inflated more than his actual deal.

He went to Nebraska out of HS. Was in the 40s on the Big Board. Willie had him as 165. He wrestled 157 his redshirt year but couldn't beat out Taylor or Lovett and then transferred to OSU and started the year at 157 before cutting down to 149 and becoming an AA.
It didn't sound like he was a 149 long term but with Chittum, Cannon and now Stiles at 149-165, its not a bad problem to have. I forgot Chittum greyshirted at Iowa and could still take a redshirt
