  1. he didn't look right in the cardenas match but he looked way off against chumbley. everything seemed to take forever and i was diagnosing him as concussed from my office. i'm no expert so i'm mostly making fun of myself but it wasn't a post-hoc excuse for losing. i was wondering why he was still out there.
  2. he was already taking off the fall semester to preserve Ivy eligibility for the spring but the word is that he reinjured his shoulder and he's dunzo for the year. likely to graduate in the spring and if he wrestles again it won't be for Cornell.
  3. Maybe what he doesn't care about is international non-Olympic wrestling. Maybe he went through US qualifying, proved that he's still the top dog, then deferred because he doesn't care about gold in non-Olympic years when the only people who watch wrestling also post on message boards. We'll see whether he cares when it's actually the Olympics.
  4. i thought that would be true but track acknowledges my flo login and still parts are inacessible is nhs67 secretly tom brands (sorry i don't mean to antagonize the only actually useful poster other than SHP)
  5. i wish they would dissolve the wall between flo and track. i am still not sure what level of subscription i need to see weight certifications on track.
  6. he's right. arena is free regardless.
  7. do any of you ever get bored with this? every goddamn thread.
  8. Thank you to Jay Aiello for beating Trumble at Final X 2022 so Cardenas kept his spot at U23 and congrats to Trumble on the gold.
  9. was shocked moldova didn't challenge the no call before Trumble scored to make it 8-0; don't know how the challenge would have gone but i expected it.
  10. right, i was agreeing with you.
  11. you have to scroll to see it on Flo but the US is technically in the lead with 3 golds and 2 bronzes plus other match wins to get to 65 points. The "Individual Neutral Athletes" are unscored as a team but have 5 golds, a silver and a bronze so... yeah (unless Belarus is absolutely KILLING it). Edit: as I was typing AIN added another bronze.
  12. Hardy gets both ankles and somehow the Georgian holds a quadpod and slips out, and Hardy loses the challenge. The Georgian gets a single leg and Hardy counters, they scramble for a while and Hardy comes out on top. Then it happens again for Hardy to go up 6-5. Incredible work, plus a final takedown of his own after the Georgian was gassed.
  13. Hardy's second period to win 8-5 was as much fun as I've had watching an international match in a while.
  14. This is basically it. O'Toole is great but Carr has beaten him more than once, and in high-stakes matches. Carr is also great! Brooks' adjustment to 197 might be a big deal but idk I think he's still the favorite going away. He blew through the U23 field at ~190 and after seeing the way he had David Taylor in jeopardy at X I don't see much of a threat at 197 (even if I want Cardenas to take him out).
  15. i think the answer is "AIN status is reserved for athletes from countries under suspension"
  16. weird typo i thought it was spelled THE
  17. they started by spraying the wrap and i think he was like "I'm not a doctor, but..."
  18. i guess but this wasn't really ambiguous. WH clearly rolled him through twice and Turkey got 2 for exposure and not 1 for a reversal which would probably have drawn a challenge.
  19. yes, the reason it didn't end at 12-1 is because it was a continuation of the position. what would turkey have challenged? hendrickson was lying on top of him at the end lol.
  20. my mind palace has no market
  21. back to back years losing to the gold medalist. counting it as a silver since there is no true third and nobody can invade my mind palace to stop me.
  22. speed kills again. both of cardenas' takedowns were snatch singles, which is not really his game at all. it had to be here because patil's height, positioning and strength made it impossible to hit his favorite double. he had the same issue with gimri, tbh, but gimri is much faster than patil. the only takedown cardenas gave up in this match was when patil jumped the whistle a little and cardenas tried to defend with a seatbelt but patil put on way too much pressure for cardenas to hold him off. i was wondering how they could possibly be the same weight class until i saw them next to each other at the end.
  23. i knew his axe looked familiar. (sorry, gimri! my bad, habibi.)
  24. Waiting for Cardenas to take on Patil who looks like a big slab of 125 beef. So does Gimli tbh.
  25. i don't think you can compare demonstration sports to the actual medal sports. those will always be a little weird and for-the-kids. hell 3x3 basketball was invented just so The Usual Suspects wouldn't win because our best players are never going to commit to that weirdo #$%^.
