Not you good sir, ja. The creator of this ridiculous thread. I spent my time officiating/refereeing/umpiring, mostly with baseball and football. Those days are done and for those same reasons, I try hard to stay away from the criticisms. It needs to be incentivized, not discouraged.

Bingo. A growing lack of accountability and ownership is plaguing society in general. What’s interesting to me particularly with a sport like wrestling, is that mindset and approach is an immediate roadblock to success or even basic participation.

Can we sign ja up? After what happened this weekend, we definitely need more objectivity and impartiality in the sport.

In what metric, principle, or idea is Mendez a favorite over Mesenbrink for the Hodge?

What?! Fizzled how? Just look at the team scores. They’re ~10 points behind PSU at the moment, probably be 20-25 when this is over. That’s not bad. The OSU’s will be the most anticipated race at NCAA’s. Based on seeds I thought OSU has slightly exceeded and Nebraska just under.

I also think Iowa should, and hope they will, keep the Brands around as long as possible. But I don’t see much of a path in finishing ahead of PSU/tOSU/OSU/Nebby in two weeks. Possibly Nebraska

It’s almost constantly embarrassing in different ways. I’m counting down the matches for him at PSU and hoping it’s near the end. It has a lot to do with any fan and their team who lives for another’s failure. Lol c’mon man, I’ve done this since grade school: Dallas Cowboys, Miami Hurricanes, St. Louis Cardinals…the list goes on! Their success feels personal and any opportunity to alleviate frustration is taken out on any slight weakness as you have all day. It’s no good. I’ve tried to get away from it, but most fans on internet message boards(the extreme) have it going on in some capacity.

It’s weird to me though, I’ve always felt that way about him, even two years ago. And I don’t know exactly why. Same feeling with SVN here and there even though he’s good natured and happy on the mat, is it just a competency thing? I think it’s something to do with consistency/stability both mentally and physically. They’re both emotional rollercoasters for identity fans.

You’re a good dude Cav, but honestly, was this the greatest satisfaction for Iowa fans in this tournament so far? I believe he’s estranged from most Penn State fans already if it feels any better. Maybe Caliendo making it to the conference finals? Seems like such a sad, vicarious lifestyle

Agree on the first point. I said the same thing as the season was going on last year and it actually ended pretty well. But how in the world are you expecting Cole Mirasola to add on 20-30 pounds of good weight? Looking at his dimensions, composition, and having an elementary understanding of physiology, says that’s impossible. Five pounds without loosing quickness and explosion would be a feat. If he weighs 250-260 pounds next year, he’ll be much worse Jimmy. You on the Playstation too often?

If Jimmy Gulibon could wrestle 141 again, would he be worth the NIL? And if he was angry, would he beat the Mendez?

Well and two years ago he was in a bracket where Braeden Davis was the overall #1. It seems both weights both years were pretty weak compared especially to what 133 is now.

Landon Sidun has to fit in there somewhere, if he holds 125 I think he’d be a favorite over any OSU currents/recruits. Doubt James and Cunningham will still be that light. Oklahoma State’s going to be really good

Great post Jimmy, very objective. I’ll take PSU by ~50. I think the race between the OSU’s for 2nd will be a good one. Future team races, especially two years from now, will be entertaining for sure. Okie’s gonna get some barring some program catastrophe

I thought he’d said multiple times it was the best decision he’s ever made and would rather be there and not start vs. somewhere else and wrestle in the tournament. Did they force him to stay too?

If that’s the case, then seeding-wise a favorite to win two matches. And you’ll be shocked?

I don’t remember a guy immediately and constantly retreat like that, that wasn’t obviously overpowered. Is he hurt? I saw the shoulder tape. That was bad

It’s not good practice to deal in absolutes, Jimmy. Unless they both lose, however, it is hard to imagine it won’t be one of those two. I’d rank them: 1. Messenbrink 2. Mendes 3. Haynes 4. Vaness 5. Bard I think someone like Shapyro or Basteeda could sneak in there, but there seems to be more parity at those weights. The above five are all undefeated and pretty solid individual favorites. MM, JM, and possibly LH could be considered favorites against the field. I think it takes that kind of guy beforehand and after the fact to generally win the award.

Seidel just missed some backs toward the end, close several times. A fight up until the final whistle, that’s what it’s supposed to look like. That was awesome, I’m not partial to either team or guy.
