  1. I had two former teammates wrestle for Rider. They were from very different generations: Derek Jenkins and Mike Miller. Both guys are solid as oak.
  2. Ramazanov, Kiyooka, Alor were my three that I thought about
  3. Is it just me, or did the guy say "Challenge Lost" in a way that made it seem like he was really happy about it, and trying to rub it in?
  4. Well maybe Rider and Lock Haven. But otherwise, good point.
  5. hoping this story ends like a Seth Gross
  6. as it gets closer to the date, we should set a meetup spot and grab some beers at some point
  7. When I wrestled with Sergei's son (RIP) at Parkland on the youth team, I remember he moved out to Japan to become their national freestyle head coach. The man is a living legend and in high demand. Awesome they had him at Michigan.
  8. Saturday night of NCAAs next year is my 40th birthday and I will be flying cross country back to my roots in Philly for my first ever NCAA championship. Anyone else already committed to going? I'll be staying with friends so I don't need accommodation myself, but can try and offer some advice for those visiting from out of town. There are a couple of pockets you'll want to avoid, but a lot of wonderful parts of the city to see. if you're a history buff, of course a lot of colonial history from when Philadelphia was the nation's capital and a birthplace of our country. I am pumped. However - I now feel the need to ask for clarification. Will the Revenue Sharing and Non-Revenue Sharing Tournaments both be held in Philly? or will I need to fly multiple places to catch both?
  9. Rivera put it really eloquently in his bronze medal, post match interview. "I find peace in the sacrifice"
  10. I'm really grateful for you guys helping me understand how this is happening
  11. Willie clears it all up lol
  12. Really happy to see Stutzman land on his feet in some way. Looking forward to see how he can influence the wildcats
  13. He's attended two excellent universities and may have earned at least one degree by now. However I haven't heard anything to suggest he is done. Only that he is not listed on Michigan's or anyones roster any longer after having entered the portal. Maybe he will also be a second semester entry?
  14. Glass half empty: amateur sports are dead and gone Glass half full: we finally got the professional folkstyle league I always wanted
  15. so if someone considers an academic year to also begin on January 1st, for those that did not attend a fall semester, some kind of loophole like that? Or is is that final point - that since the window hasn't closed to complete a transfer - a graduate student can still enter the portal now? That is different than how I understood it, but that could be it.
  16. I only report second hand info at best: scouring Wrestlestat, Flo, other message boards, X, and Instagram for updates. I don't have a view into the actual portal itself. I wish it was public. I think of my role in the process is mostly an aggregator
  17. Well part of the Wyoming logo isn't even on the graphic, so it made me feel he thought lowly of them
  18. My guesses for the next three off the list: Air Force, American, and Wyoming
  19. sadly true. I'm just curious to hear how this is justified - or maybe my understanding of the rules is incorrect.
  20. The grad student exemption is no longer.
  21. No clue, but they are quite thin at 197. He is listed as Endene's only backup
  22. As far as I can tell the rules changed to close the autumn portal opening. So the news of Buchanan joining Iowa, after he was not in the transfer portal, does not reconcile with my understanding of the rules. @Husker_Du?
  23. He was my favorite individual wrestler to watch in the entire tournament. Clutch, gamer mentality, very athletic.
  24. I would expect Mesenbrink at 74
  25. This is the first I'm hearing of this news. It would not surprise me as I think about how large he looks as a 125. I also think back to a few matches last year where he looks gassed early and lost unexpected matches to the likes of Diego Sotelo and Joey Fischer. The former who proved to be a much better wrestler than I knew, but still not the caliber that Noto is. Looking at the lineup, Gable Strickland at 133 has not used a redshirt year yet and could potentially use one this year. They would then need to put forth a true freshman at 125. In the MAC, I don't think that is as big of a deal. They have a bunch of freshman coming in at 125, but I think Dean Houser would be best suited to start right away. Darren Florance is a 3X NY State Champ, but he won this year at 116 and will need some time to fill out into a proper 125.
