Hey @PortaJohn, this is shaping as a last minute trip so I don’t have reservations yet, but most of what I see available is around 3 miles directly north of the arena. Is there decent transportation to/from that area?

How is the public transport downtown?

If a school like UW, which is in a much better position than most programs, is reduced to club level then we are in for a very bleak landscape for college wrestling. Something like DI men’s gymnastics, where there are like 11 or 12 DI programs.

I guess it’s not too surprising. Both he, and to a lesser extent Rogotzke are so reliant on going for the pin with high risk moves that they are relatively easy to game plan for. They each have some nice wins over really good guys, and then lots of losses to mediocre guys.

What’s the over/under on number of back points in this match?

Those staying in hotels, how far are you from the Wells Fargo Center? Right now, what i see available for a reasonable price Is 2-3 miles away.

Right now, the question is if the AD cares that the program isn’t doing well and sees a need for a change. Bono’s contract just got extended recently when all the problems that have been discussed here were already apparent. It doesn’t look like getting a new coach is a priority for the AD. Until that happens, things are status quo.

It’s not winning an Oscar, but I thought it was hilarious and really enjoyed it. Here’s why: 1. Two of my favorites, Will Ferrell and wrestling, together in one movie. 2. We’ve all seen the hyped up kid who thinks he’s going to conquer the world, but goes out there and gets pinned right away. I thought the kid portrayed that character pretty well. 3. The kid busting into a therapy session for a suicidal patient because his dad the therapist is missing his match….over the top but they pulled it off. 4. Regarding the head lock/hip toss, I agree that way too many wrestling movies don’t have the most realistic wrestling and show many more throws than actually happen. But in this case the kid said in the movie he was wrestling “a beast”, and when the match started he ran right into him. Ideal for a good throw. 5. I thought the ending was great, kid gets pinned, dad and patient are in the stands and everyone is happy.

What did others pay for regular seats?

Wow, I did not realize what a hot ticket NCAAs have become.

I’m not far from Philly so was thinking of going to NCAAs this year. When I looked up tickets I see all session passes for $1500!?! Is it really that expensive now? Last time I went was 2005 in St. Louis. I was a student and got them through UW for something like $100 bucks. How do others get their tickets and are you paying that much?

Ouch! As a badger alum and fan, it’s hard to have experienced the last few years and not see any real change in the next few years. But you guys actually make me feel bad for Bono.

That’s probably true if it is more of a permanent move.

He’s coming to train for the winter, not permanently, I believe. It probably benefits him more to do something like this and get a better idea of the competition’s strength/weaknesses.

My money is on Pitt-Johnstown.

Middle East is plenty violent without Israel. Sectarian violence between different tribes, religious denominations etc is so common over there it’s normal. If you don’t know that you are very uninformed.

Anyone in need of a good laugh, watch and enjoy. I don’t think there is a 30 second clip that can better capture how the tables have turned in the last week or so.

My take is we will look back on Oct. 7th as the point when Iran miscalculated and went too far. They have created a situation where if they don’t respond they look weak, which is a big no no in the Middle East. It is very dangerous domestically for the regime. If they do respond, they risk getting drawn into a fight with Israel. In the last week Israel has shown that they have been pushed too far and the status quo that has existed recently is gone. All red lines that Iran and their proxies thought existed are gone. Iran’s strategy has not been to get into a war with Israel, but to use their proxies to make life unlivable there. What they didn’t count on was getting hit at home. Israel can easily take out their oil fields and refineries, which is probably check mate for the regime their. Israel has shown recently they will go their if needed. Make no mistake, taking out Nasrallah is a game changer.

If it allows Israel’s northern population to return to their homes and restores Israel’s deterrence, yes. It changes a lot. If it causes Iran to be fearful of getting dragged in and back off, it changes a lot. Is it going to root out Islamic terrorism and end Hezbollah? No, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t make a difference.
