  1. They may want to blur those out!
  2. He did Zagreb and Pan Am. I don’t think he did the other three. Hes generally one of the more active US guys.
  3. No ranking events, no seed. Even for a 40x world champ. (Or as we saw a 4x Olympic champ)
  4. Keep in mind that side of the bracket was also supposed to have Saduleev in it.
  5. That seems to be a common opinion. I like a good lace. If someone doesn’t want to get teched, stay away from the lace.
  6. The runner from SA was intergender. I believe she sued and won after the ioc attempted to keep her out.
  7. The problem is: this was the most important week. All the other weeks are practice for this one
  8. His wife went to medical school in PA.
  9. Congrats to him! I have always sang the praises of Jeff Buxton, and many nothing know would counter with “… but Blair recruits! Anyone could win with that team!” I think Sebastian thinks Coach Buxton is pretty good, and it’s very possible Sebastian doesn’t medal without excellent corner coaching. (Choosing not to review)
  10. He may have made some significant gains as a resident athlete at the OTC as well.
  11. Sacrilege! certainly he’s doing some new techniques since the move? He only ever loses to two people.
  12. When I consider (and I have thought about this) : oh maybe Snyder’s fireplug body isn’t ideal for par terre, I remember Townsend Saunders being able to turn just about anyone if he was able to get a chance in par terre. Spencer is not exactly a beanpole either. I just don’t think par terre is a point of emphasis at NLWC. Cael had very little par terre himself. The top pupil, Taylor seemed to be wrestling folkstyle on top.
  13. I think Gable overworked them in 93 or 94? But there are certainly plenty of skills and tactics they could be practicing as a group before breaking off. I would like to see something different than hand fight , handfight, handfight, maybe get a takedown, and then be totally unwilling to even attempt a turn. Be stood up and more of the same. This seemed to be the strategy in about 70% of our matches.
  14. Yes, that’s my understanding. Everyone goes off to their own corner of a mat and does their own thing with their own partners and coaches. At least way more than the women.
  15. Aged like fine wine? It was made less than 48 hours ago, after the wrestling was 75% complete.
  16. None. But I’m talking about when they get together in camp. It’s more like six separate practices. The women have way more training as a team from my understanding.
  17. What is a functional lift? The term is used often, but I’m not sure of a scientific definition Despite there not being much “shoving” in wrestling, you need to build up the pectorals and other muscle groups to 1) Prevent muscle imbalances 2) Build up strength to resist gut wrenches, arm bars, half Nelson’s, etc. Having strong pecs is a foundation of solid defense against turns.
  18. Says the guy who claims that lifting doesn’t make one stronger.
  19. Try this out: Do a max bench this week fully hydrated. In a month cut 20 lbs. See how much you can lift. Maybe do a similar test with a one mile run.
  20. Until China adds Hong Kong and Taiwan’s 4 golds and claims victory. It’s coming.
  21. And you literally say you had to cut more weight. That drains strength. You would have felt much stronger at 184 or 197.
