  1. Definitely related. I had a great great club coach. He said that he never saw a good wrestler burnout from wrestling, because wrestling is fun; they burnout from weight cuts. I am not a fan of matside weigh ins, but I do not know what the actual solution is. I think the current certification system in place could work, but teams and individuals find loopholes, grey areas, and weaknesses in the rules and exploit them. I understand they are trying to win, and weight cuts aren't as bad as the past, but the sport is clearly not following the spirit of the rules when it comes to weight loss.
  2. I think there is a chance that limiting the number of high level matches wrestled over the course of a career may hinder some of our wrestlers development. Yes, there may be less weight cutting and burnout, but a lot of learning takes place in matches. This is probably more true with the younger, untested guys. But the catch is, they probably need some matches against the studs to get maximum learning; those studs are resting.
  3. No. I meant "make 133." Vito and Glory are two different wrestlers.
  4. Glory feels the 133 lbers are too big to mess with, while at the same time being unable to cut enough to make 133.
  5. Thanks for your acknowledgement. And I meant MMA champs in general (Woodley UFC, Chandler Bellator, Askren Bellator/ONE)
  6. Please re-read. I said Eierman was a better college wrestler than Chandler and Woodley. Tuesday at 9:53 and Tuesday at 9:55. You think they were better as college wrestlers? You are entitled to your opinion. If you think I am backtracking, you are wrong.
  7. I definitely agree with this. I coaches two high school kids against two future UFC stars. One lost to a future champ 3-2, the other had a one point win over a guy who got as high as #2 in the rankings and had some legendary fights.
  8. I agree with almost everything you said. My original issue was the number of people who were saying Eierman would suck because they didn't like him, mostly because he went to Iowa.
  9. Correct.
  10. I was referring to two of their three MMA champs: Chandler and Woodley. (Certainly not Askren). Eierman is a better college wrestler than the two. Will he be better at MMA? Unlikely. but it is tough to know unless nhe tries.
  11. Someone's feelings are hurt. Keep in mind that his father coaches J'Den and young Eierman is a better college wrestler than a couple of the other Mizzou champs.
  12. Better as a wrestler than Chandler or Woodley.
  13. /s or [s] is a good way to show that you are being sarcastic. Otherwise, it is going to be taken at face value. When you try to backtrack?
  14. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Five_conferences
  15. Agree on all points. This may be it for Haines at 157.
  16. ... and this is a major improvement over the last board.
  17. Exactly. Have to be somewhat creative in getting the most out of their talent. They've done it before, but every situation will be slightly different.
  18. Well, if you have Haines, Facundo, Starocci, and whomever else at 165/174,you have at least three high recruits/studs for two spots. You have a limited number of redshirts between these guys. You want to maximize their years of eligibility. I don't care if you say it is a "real' log jam, you need to manage these things.
  19. Oregon State is, by definition, a Power Five.
