  1. I think a lot of people consider Lee's window for success to be much smaller due to his physical issues. The man is not a young 26. He will be just shy of 30 at the next Olympics which is when Taylor won his Gold. Lee seems to really be made for freestyle, and I think has pushed expectation higher. I don't think he "needs" to leave Iowa but I do think every athlete benefits from a new voice from time to time.
  2. Living in State College I never heard that. I had heard drunk in the Taco Bell but that was all I heard.
  3. You also have to remember that amateur athletics in general have made a tremendous shift in the USA. Without Foxcatcher and Dupont it is hard to say how long any of those guys remain active in wrestling. It is an interesting question about what you think might happen.
  4. This used to happen a lot with Ice Hockey. Kids could player Juniors through age 20. Start college at 21. Now not so much the best guys are going straight to NCAA at 18 if that is their path. The real elites play major Jr. to the NHL. The GI bill guys are the ones to really watch. A friend did the Marines out of high school came to college at like 25 and loved hanging with young Coeds. It is legal but is it right?
  5. It is an interesting question to me. I know they want to give a guy a chance to compete, but everyone has had the Final X date for a while. Sometimes you get injured, and it is at the wrong time. I know you want to send the best team but the process is already shifted to favor past medalists. I am not sure how I feel about it.
  6. He kind of did. It was the shortest Par Terre in the history of freestyle.
  7. It is interesting that he is so good at wrestling but doesn't seem to really love it. He could be one of the top guys in the world for a while. Just an interesting character.
  8. Did somebody say: Teenjus by Uncle Baby Billy https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Lj2S2oA5wts
  9. Actually you sign up for Flow and then complain that the stream doesn't work.
  10. "I thought I was Captain America"
  11. I really think in today's environment it is really a nonstory. You can't sit and wait for Angelo Ferrari to say I would rather wrestle for David Taylor. You potentially have to be ready to lose any/all on the team. Always have to be looking to get better. That is the environment that the free movement people didn't fully anticipate.
  12. I have said this in the past but being around a Power 5 Football program for many years I will say that if Ferentz really had plans for Kueter I don't believe they would have let him take a year off. I am not doubting his desire to do both but you really need to be fully dedicated to one or the other to have success.
  13. I really thought Buchanan was the only guy that really looked to have a real horsepower edge on Barr. Granted he didn't wrestle everybody but I am not sure 2025 Barr could beat 2025 Buchanan if they wrestle 10 more times. Hard to say how he would do against Ferrari.
  14. I think he has elite defense. Having something elite makes you a tough out wherever you are. He likely could get to a good 230lbs pretty easy. He would be in the title discussion
  15. I remember the folks back in 1950 complaining about OSU.
  16. we get so excited about the next freshman phenom that it really skews views of wrestlers. Look at Shapiro. Was projected as an All-Timer coming into NCAA Wrestling, now he has a 3rd and 5th place finish. Will he ever win a title? I think the Starocci v Keckeisen was the most anticipated by the majority. Many thought (hoped) there was no way that Starocci get beat him but he did and wasn't really close to being taken down. People don't like Starocci but I really do believe he is an All Time great. He isn't known as a scorer but finished with a 59% bonus rate. I wanted to see the 285 final that we got. I think Kerkvliet was beaten by Steveson before they start. It was nice to see someone match the athleticism
  17. He is a world class freestyle wrestler not a ham and egger. I wouldn't worry about his folk skill set not being up to par
  18. Depends on how overboard they go. I doubt he will be unbeatable, former WWE star, and former NFL player.
  19. I can recognize that my cheering against GS was mostly due to jock sniffing media. They latch on and try to build a narrative and for me that makes me want to go in the opposite direction.
  20. Some guys not used to losing don't lose well. Can't be me. They are cheating.
  21. Or us he? Sometimes he is anti-PSU and sometimes he is a PSU homer.
