  1. Bearclaw really doing well.
  2. Numbers, you are still missing my point. When a coach is attempting to land a portal transfer, in that moment the measure of success is whether you get the transfer or not. Iowa is good at landing these transfers. How you develop those transfers is a further step in the process. You either get it or you don't but this step is where Cael dominates.
  3. I dont think you are getting my point. Iowa gets studs, but do they produce as expected? Penn State gets studs, and on balance their guys produce the best results. What is the cause of this variation in outcome. It is not just recruiting or transfer rankings.
  4. I am rebutting the idea that has prevailed in the past and which I see emerging again that it is all about simply landing the best prospects. That Penn State won, of course, simply because they had the best recruits. Iowa has also landed many, many elite recruits. If this idea were true then simply landing the best transfers would also be enough. After that, easy peasy lemon squeezie as my kids would say. Just off the top of my head, and I am no expert on their line up over the years but I think they landed transfers from Austin DeSanto, Pat Lugo, Gavin Teesdale, Real Woods, Jaydin Eierman, Brody Teske, Steven Buchanon, Mikey Caliendo, Kyle Parco, and Jacori Teemer. All elite transfers, many of whom were expected or at least predicted by Iowa fans to produce very high finishes and even titles. PSU seems to win by the sum of all that is required to produce great wrestling. Just as if you remove one small part from a machine it may seize up, it seems to me the same can happen in any great athletic program. Landing recruits is very important, but its just a start.
  5. There is a lot more to this thing than just simply landing top recruits. If you land the right recruits among the top recruits, that obviously makes a difference. Having them stay healthy makes a difference. And then there is the portal where Penn State has done well but where Iowa has objectively done the best over the past 7 years. Then there is coaching, Penn State has won so many titles because the sum of these ingredients has added up to the most points.
  6. You fail to properly acknowledge that 82 percent of top recruits were available to your school!
  7. PortaJohn is correct, Penn State never got all the top kids all the time. If you look at the top ten recruits for the last ten years using flo big board, or a total of 100 recruits, PSU landed 18 of them. Two left, three were injured and barely scored any NCAA team points. Several are unproven at the NCAA Ch. level. More than anyone else, but not everyone.
  8. Those two in sum are greater than Bassett.
  9. And Cael said they dont get into bidding wars.
  10. Less so assuming money is more evenly spread among their tier 1 matmen.
  11. Odds are it won't be an issue, but nothing is an issue until it becomes one. I don't care one way or another beyond the entertainment value of it. Iowa is back in the thick of things which is good IMO. Bachelor Bo going to Iowa is better than him going to OK St.
  12. Human tendancies are hard to dismiss. People tend to become envious when they percieve they deserve more of the pie. Politicians have made entire careers exploiting such tendancies.
  13. The bigger risk for Nicols and Iowa is that everyone else in the program will seek pay raises. This could involve current roster and incoming and future commits. And what happens if they dont get renegotiated higher? Could become a big problem.
  14. I dont do Jimmy Wordsalad links.
  15. Is Bachelor Bo his official forum nick name, like that old time boxer "Gentleman Jim Corbett"?
  16. Ahhh, the child of the community has spoken.
  17. Interested too see Barr bounce back vs Cardenas.
  18. Guessing Jax and Blaze 141, Basset 149.
  19. Lee won 3 and was an expected 4 timer. Not sure Bassett is quite like that.
  20. Iowa keeps their lock on 2nd place!
