Is Josh Barr a legit title contender?
Pinnacle replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Buchanon was in control the entire match and got out from bottom in something like 2 or 3 seconds to preserve RT. Barr had to score which is never the place you want to be and he lost. The way things looked he'd have likely lost anyway in OT, if not SV. -
All impressive. Duke also won the Junior Schalles Award.
-
The operative words. 90 percent of Carter's career has been win by bonus. Where were you to exclaim how exciting those matches were? Helpful Hint: some guys won't wrestle him in the center of the mat because it cuts down the scoring and they think it gives them some small chance to win.
-
I assume you missed Starocci pounding Mehki at the all star.
-
A man who wins NCAAs on one leg aint scared. Former champs wouldn't even shoot on him, kind of like Ferrari taking faux shots he is not trying to score with. This is a Ferrari we are talking about.
-
He has a bigger brand than any of them, and he will be a bonus guy against all but the best. I doubt his overall record will match PJ Duke or Blaze, and maybe not Jax either. If he ends up in the same weight class as Duke I would bet on Duke every time.
-
Maybe Brands can re create his "Load Management" scheme so that Bassett does not end up with a career losing record to PJ Duke.

The whole match is being way, way over thought by the wrestling fans on this board who are pitching the idea that a 5th year senior could not take down a freshman. Ferrari spent almost the entire match either backing up and making any action take place on the boundary or going to a knee. More than a minute evaporated with Starocci riding him. Ferrari came forward for about 20 seconds and wound up with Starocci on his leg a third time, and the ref stalemated it. If not for the boundary, the clock, or a dumb stalemate e probably gets taken down. But aside from all that, Stariocci did not need to take him down because the score was 3-1.

Is Starocci the 3rd best wrestler on his own team?
Pinnacle replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
You didn't ask if the results that count were better, you asked if he was 3rd best. Willie has the anti Starocci crowd nailed spot on. They think other guys are close to beating him wen they clearly are not. -
National Duals Invite in November 2025
Pinnacle replied to Barracuda141's topic in College Wrestling
Not sure given the timing how involvement in Paycom duals will not have an impact on CKLV -
I saw one tournament he lost to Connor Mirasola. He has won a load of events as well
-
The new era is that Iowa's ceiling is 3rd. PSU is still the King. Oklahoma State will contend for sure.
-
Agree. Their two matches with Starocci tell the difference. Keckeisen got to a legitimate shot that had a chance at being finished when he wrestled Carter. He didn't keep going to a knee or backing up out of bounds. Carter could only get 28 seconds of RT on him. Ferrari took a couple of shots just to get to the leg. Shots straight on with no real attempt to get to the corner and finish. Each one stuffed completely. Mostly he backed up to the edge or went to a knee. He needed the edge or the clock to not get scored upon himself. He gave up RT because he isn't there yet from bottom. Keckeisen would win a match between them imo.
-
I think Ferrari will spend a lot of time backing up or going to one knee against McEnelly.
-
What is confusing? PSU is bonusing everyone, not just non Big10 wrestlers.
-
Keckeisen is better than Ferrari imo.
-
This is an unfair comment when at least part of the inflated bonus rate is applicable to beating Big10 back ups.

What does history say of a 4x champ that fails to win 5?
Pinnacle replied to BruceyB's topic in College Wrestling
Creative thread. Put a loss on both Starocci and Sanderson. -
Lost to an Amine at Big10 who also won a silver or something at Worlds. But he then beat that guy at NCAA in dominant fashion. Rode him for a few minutes RT.
-
So money would naturally go farther when you are starting at 67 points as opposed to 172 points. The gap is smaller in the tournament sense, but they are still a long ways away and the dual still went 8-2 in PSU favor.
-
They increased their point totals at those weights for sure. How many points would they score without those guys?
-
The criteria is whatever the voter wants it to be. The written guidelines are window dressing.
-
The three biggest takeaways I have from the dual. 1. Brands spent several millions of dollars and could not close the gap. His frustration after the dual was palpable. 2. Where Iowa wrestlers look as though they are grinding and exerting maximum effort, PSU wrestlers look relaxed going thru positions. 3. That Kasak photo is gonna go viral among young age group wrestlers. Some of the top kids in the country were in attendance last night and that moment was kind of iconic.

Not true. Starocci had Ferrari's leg 3 times. Not all on re attacks either. Ferrari got stuffed on one half shot and one committed shot. Other than that he backed up, went to a knee, defended, or was on bottom. He is very good, but lets not pretend he had Carter stalling when that is not true
