  1. Maybe we should wrestle in a cage. Would probably make the viewing experience worse, would completely chang scrambles on the edge, and most likely would be a logistical nightmare in terms of set up, but at least we wouldn't need to worry about stalling on the edge
  2. A bunch of old timers discussing a swimming race on a wrestling board. There was no misciting. The "interfering with a swimmer" rule is a well known rule that has multiple parts to it. Part "b" states: "A swimmer who changes lanes during a heat shall be disqualified." the swimmer in question entered the lane line of his teammate, who finished 2nd, while the rest of the field hadn't finished the race yet. Automatic DQ. I learned the same painful lesson years ago after finishing a 500 yard freestyle race
  3. It's an honor to represent your country
  4. Just to play devil's advocate, you don't think a process that leaves the possibility open for 1/3 of the olympic weights not being qualified isn't problematic?
  5. oh boy, the comments on twitter and elsewhere on the interwebs have been predictably salty. Today sucked. My question is, what changes should be enacted to avoid this type of situation? As it stands, the winner at Olympic trials will have a few weeks to recover from a brutal tournament only to go and battle it out in yet another tough tournament. Doesn't sound ideal. Next quad, do we open up the pan am qualifier spot to any national team member that wants to challenge for it? Hand pick our rep? Do we move olympic trials a couple weeks up to avoid conflicts with the LCQ? This last option, although potentially less of a conflict with the LCQ, does put our best NCAA wrestlers in a bit of a bind
  6. wonder what sort of douchebag tweet Gilman is drafting right now
  7. He teched Cruz and Vito at 2019 senior nationals. Valid data point but safe to say all 3 are different wrestlers since then. Teching the guy that RBY had some difficulty with is also a valid data point, but I'm not sure how much it says about Spencer's ability to navigate the field at trials. He's one of my favorite wrestlers and my pick to win oly trials. I just think it's a little early to start penciling him in as the last chance qualifier representative
  8. I think he would have won. But he wasn't eligible to compete. Also, although I will be rooting for Spencer as much as anyone at oly trials, there is no guarantee he will be our rep and, therefore, our representative at the last chance qualifier.
  9. I love the confidence in Spencer Lee. But, he hasn't beaten Richards or Gilman yet. Not to mention Vito, Fix, or Suriano.
  10. Richards can beat Gilman but not Cruz. No disrespect, but Cruz has not had a stellar showing in freestyle these past several years. Disappointing showing
  11. Why are the cases only dismissed against ISU?
  12. I too am interested in knowing what the competition at the Last Chance is going to be like. I'm guessing there will at least be one "camo-russian" that is likely to present a challenge? Top 3 at Last Chance qualify for the Olympics, no?
  13. the guy that RBY beat 10-6, didn't he wrestle Spencer as well?
  14. Completely agree. Today was one of the worst episodes in quite sometime. I generally don't mind the banter, but today it felt like at least 50% filler hot garbage.
  15. Same here. Watched it on YouTube. They are sometimes really bad at uploading episodes
  16. You're in trouble when you don't know you're in trouble. When you know you're in trouble you get out of trouble. These are words I live by
  17. ... Yeah. This is worse than the poopy yellow brown ones they had several years back. I think those were for world champs.
  18. I am an idiot
  19. This is a really good scenario. Carr gets to settle the score with Ramirez (who might be a tough match up for him) and we get the pleasure of enjoying a succulent match between KOT and MM. Just watch it turn out to be a cagey 4-2 snoozer. This is a weight where I wish we had true third, as impractical as it may be
  20. Maybe we should have true third
  21. Allred has been a little rough this year but I love his story and style and would like to see him place
  22. I think the situations have more differences than similarities. Both made unwise decisions. Lee, likely because of exhaustion - that fits the billing of a brain cramp. Starocci got a little greedy going for the pin. Not sure if that constitutes a brain cramp. But, you might be onto something
  23. Yeah, right. Woods was called for stalling while working for a tilt. There were about 3 top stalling calls against Iowa wrestlers in the Nebraska match alone
