And the guy who WILL go to Harvard will in all likelihood be a lot worse than anybody who turned them down because they aren't getting paid.
I can't see the Ivies being a competitive D1 conference with the "rules" listed in this thread. They will severely decline over the next few years.
The only wrestling team champion I wrestled on was my elementary school team winning a conference title in 1976. Then after most of the boys quit the wrestling team and went into bball during Jr High I was just wrestling for individual glory since the team was so rotten after that (we'd occasionally pick up team trophies in minor tournaments). The funny thing was those guys who went into bball (to impress the girls) all rode the bench for 3 years before crawling back to the wrestling team in HS. They'd lost 3 years development and got hammered on the mat on their return. Ooopsy! None of them placed at state.
PSU was pretty flat last night. Kasak had a semi-tough match against a guy he probably should've majored, Kerk barely beating his opponent 2-0. Maybe Carl is working the boys too hard?
What is the chance that the hot girl at the bar even knows college wrestling exists, and that she'd know you were lying if you told her you were an AA?
That team in college wrestling would be Ohio State or Michigan. Unfortunately for OSU they blew their wad on paying football players over a million bucks per year and they didn't hold anything back for the wrestling program!
Then clearly the biggest beneficiary of transfers is easily PSU if you go back far enough. They have 2 straight up NCAA champs that I know about that transferred in: MM and Kerk.
