Yeah, exactly. I promise Zahid would be happy to let him test that claim any time he wants.

The Constitution does distinguish in some respects between the rights of citizens and noncitizens: the right not to be discriminatorily denied the vote and the right to run for federal elective office are expressly restricted to citizens. All other rights, however, are written without such a limitation. The Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment due process and equal protection guarantees extend to all "persons." The rights attaching to criminal trials, including the right to a public trial, a trial by jury, the assistance of a lawyer, and the right to confront adverse witnesses, all apply to "the accused." And both the First Amendment's protections of political and religious freedoms and the Fourth Amendment's protection of privacy and liberty apply to "the people." The fact that the Framers chose to limit to citizens only the rights to vote and to run for federal office is one indication that they did not intend other constitutional rights to be so limited. Accordingly, the Supreme Court has squarely stated that neither the First Amendment nor the Fifth Amendment "acknowledges any distinction between citizens and resident aliens." For more than a century, the Court has recognized that the Equal Protection Clause is "universal in [its] application, to all persons within the territorial jurisdiction, without regard to differences of ... nationality." The Court has repeatedly stated that "the Due Process Clause applies to all 'persons' within the United States, including aliens, whether their presence here is lawful, unlawful, temporary, or permanent." That was surprising. He got dominated on the mat and on the feet. He had a really nice takedown before he got reversed

Excited to see Steed at 174. He could be a contender imo

Askren announced it a couple weeks ago. Basically he has had a desire to coach at a higher level in addition to the youth coaching he does, and WI didn't have an RTC, so he made one and has Evan Wick training there. I don't expect KOT to leave Missouri any time soon. He's previously talked about the connections he has in the area and how that's important to him, and now he's doing some sort of housing development work. I think that's a big reason why he stayed at Mizzou all five years.

He lost to Paniro this year, did worse at NCAAs, and doesn't have the quality wins Paniro has. Not exactly a sure bet to beat him out

Knockouts are exciting and decisive in a way that, for me, continuous leg laces are not. Pins are exciting and decisive in the way a knockout is. I never feel robbed when a match ends in pin.

Half of the US Open men's finals ended in techs, including Seth Gross and David Carr.

Fix is out - Injury while getting laced
okokzach replied to mspart's topic in International Wrestling
Jax said in his interview with Basch they don't think it will require surgery. Fix was on crutches coaching the younger guys at the Open after getting hurt. What a guy! -
Did Iowa fans enjoy Mocco versus Mirasola?

More stalling should be called for sure, but not (IMO) for driving a guy out of bounds. If you're not shooting for takedowns, you don't deserve to benefit from stall points. -
Since some of you found that helpful, I wrote out my understanding of the other World Team selection processes: First, to explain the process for the U23 team, I need to add in some complexity that I intentionally left out in my initial explainer above. That is about the meaning of the Senior Men's World Team. The "Team" is the Top 3 guys at each weight. That is, the two guys who make Final X, plus the next-highest finisher from WTT. I think this means 57kg and 61kg will be contested at WTT to essentially determine who gets third place/the third spot on the Senior Team. For the other eight weights, whoever gets 2nd at WTT will be the third team member on the Senior World Team. Only one guy will compete at Worlds. The other team members are there as backups and training partners. U23 The U23 representative at each weight is given based on a priority system. First priority goes to the highest-ranking Senior Men's World Team member who meets the age requirement for U23. e.g. Jax will be offered the spot at 61kg because he's already qualified for Final X and his opponent, Vito, is over the age limit. The same would go for Lilledahl at 57kg and Mesenbrink at 74kg if they win Final X, or if their opponent is over the age limit for U23. Next priority goes to the 4th ranked wrestler from the Senior Team selection. I believe this would be the next-best guy from WTT. If no age-eligible wrestler meets the above criteria, or if such a wrestler declines the spot, it will go to the winner of the U23 World Team Trials. U20 The U20 representative at each weight is decided in a best-of-three series at the U20 WTT finals. One spot in the WTT finals is given to the winner of the U20 US Open. The other spot is given to the winner of the WTT Challenge Tournament. The Challenge Tournament takes place in the morning of the same day as the WTT finals. U17 The U17 representative at each weight was decided at the U17 US Open. The finals of the were a best-of-three series.

Did Iowa fans enjoy Mocco versus Mirasola?
okokzach replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Iowa fans should be stoked. Mocco, a junior in high school, got 3 takedowns to 0 against Penn State's starting heavyweight. If Kueter is healthy for the next three years, and then Mocco taking over, they are set for the foreseeable future at heavyweight. Whether Hawkeye fans want a push out in folk or not, there isn't one, so you favor the guy getting all the takedowns. Plus, I don't believe they really want that rule change. I mean do you really think Hawk fans want to start yelling "passivity!" 500 times per match? -
Let's work backwards: A team of 10 wrestlers to represent the US will be decided at Final X (the X is for 10). At Final X, the two best wrestlers at each weight will compete in a best 2 out of 3 matches format. There are three different ways to earn a spot at Final X at each weight: (1) Winning a 2024 World/Olympic medal (2) Winning the 2025 US Open (3) Winning the 2025 World Team Trials (WTT) WTT can be thought of as an "if needed" event. If there is a wrestler who qualifies through method (1), then method (3) does not apply for that weight. e.g. Spencer Lee won the silver medal at the 2024 Olympics at 57kg and so he automatically qualifies to compete at Final X for the 57kg spot on this year's team. Thus, there will be no Final X competitor from the WTT at 57kg. The same is true for 61kg because Vito Arujau won bronze at the 2024 World Championships. All weights will have a Final X competitor from the US Open. So, we have two Final X spots locked in from 2024 medalists (57kg and 61kg). This weekend we had ten more spots determined from the US Open. The final eight spots will be determined at WTT. By weight: 57kg: Spencer Lee vs, Luke Lilledahl 61kg: Vito Arujau vs. Jax Forrest 65kg: Joey McKenna vs. WTT winner 70kg: Yianni Diakomihalis vs. WTT winner 74kg: Mitchell Mesenbrink vs. WTT winner 79kg: Evan Wick vs. WTT winner 86kg: Zahid Valencia vs. WTT winner 92kg: Trent Hidlay vs. WTT winner 97kg: Kyle Snyder vs. WTT winner 125kg: Wyatt Hendrickson vs. WTT winner

Gilman in the corner for Blaze, but why is he miming the pin call loll

Can you explain the "correct throw" thing? I'm still learning some of the freestyle intricacies.

Agreed. Nashon didn't have his challenge brick at that point unfortunately. Still, Jax looked amazing

That was brutal to watch
