  1. What other close calls did he have that season other than the first Ramos match? I actually don’t think he looked particularly vulnerable early in the year, but yeah I’m more just feeling similar vibes in terms of everyone seemed to assume him winning was a foregone conclusion when nothing is guaranteed. As far as how it happens, I’m thinking he might be able to be “out-quicked” because of the extra weight he’s carrying this season. I’d also give Hendrickson a better chance of turning him than Kerk. Which if Hendrickson was the one to heat him it could potentially be the start of the legend of Taylor’s coaching career… Yeah kinda. For one he took about 2 years off from competing so he may not be as sharp as he was when doing it nonstop for basically his whole life. He also was likely more motivated by money than anything to come back. And so far it hasn’t seemed to work out for guys like those that went to Iowa for one more run at least in terms of individual titles are concerned.
  2. Not sure if Soldano is the starter
  3. Gotta give credit to CSUB. 0-12 last season, and 2 D1 wins this year
  4. True, this is probably the craziest thing about this dual
  5. Interesting, thanks for sharing
  6. Yup unfortunately he won’t see Kerk until B10’s. Best dual test will probably be Feldman if that happens
  7. Granted most of Hendrickson’s points were off gut wrenches, but he did take him down and there was at least one time where it seemed like he likely could have held Parris down longer. I think this at least shows he’s on a similar level as Parris, and that was before being able to train with David Taylor. I guess the argument would be that Steveson has always been a level above Parris. But I think the question is is Steveson at the same level he was at a couple years ago.
  8. He is 18 now will turn 20 in the August following his senior year.
  9. Bassett clarified his birthday and addressed the strange AI articles in a recent Facebook post. Didn’t see the the narrowed down his school list though: Blessed to be a 3x Powerade, Super 32 & Ironman Champion! Grateful for every moment, every challenge, and every victory & defeat. This journey has been filled with hard work, faith, and incredible support. The season’s far from over, and I’m more motivated than ever for what’s ahead for my team and my brothers. Ephesians 5:20 “Giving thanks always to the lord” BTW- To the doubters and strange AI Articles: I am 18 and my birthday is August 25, 2006. Not sure why so many people worry about it. I will wrestle my senior year with my brothers and will cherish every second of it. Thanks, you fuel my fire, but my gratitude lights the way.’ Let’s keep pushing. Excited To See What Gods Got Planned Next #MachineGunMindset
  10. 11. Has it been confirmed Arnold is going down? Has Andy Smith won the spot over Sonny Sasso? Minto/Bubba Wilson? Iowa State seems to have a few questions. What weight is Echemendia going? And it seems they don’t really have defined starters at 165 (Euton shows as a medical RS on wrestlestat, not sure if I knew that), 174 (Gaitan/Riggins), 197 if there’s question about Carroll being able to make the weight, and whether or not Bastida is coming back at 285 (seems like no). Maybe Rutgers 184? (Cartagena-Walsh/Soldano)
  12. I know it was FS, but wasn’t Hendrickson leading until very late in a match against Parris?
  13. Not really. The “he gets tired in the third period” stuff was mostly made up. He was really only vulnerable to a big move, but pretty much anyone can be vulnerable to that.
  14. …and it wasn’t because of his age
  15. Figured we don’t need another thread about Minnow…but I see now he’s trying to stir the pot with Iowa fans/recruits …
  16. I mean in that same sentence I did say I’m predicting it. So I take that back, if I actually bet on stuff (which I really don’t) then I’d bet on it.
  17. I know he’s said that he’s bigger than he’s ever been for wrestling (IIRC, ~275 now vs ~250 in the past). He did seem to have a little bit of a belly today. So I think it is possible he might actually not be as quick as he’s been previously
  18. Correction: I guess that was 2023 Spencer Lee not 2022…
  19. I mean not very confident and even if I bet at all I probably wouldn’t bet on it, but sure, I’ll say I’m predicting it. Although I’m not sure what I’d do if I was filling out a bracket as I’m not confident in predicting who beats him. I’d probably lean Hendrickson at this moment.
  20. I’m not sure if it will be Kerk or Hendrickson, but I think one of them beats him. Getting flashbacks to 2022 Spencer Lee with most people seeming to assume him winning is a foregone conclusion.
  21. I didn’t get the impression from the post below that you were only referring to his “ceiling” this year, but may have misunderstood. Although I’m not totally sure what “some some mid-to-low AA ceiling” means, that’s probably a typo my elderly mother would make, I was figuring you meant “same.”
  22. He did it several times in the McCort/Sem match, right away in the first match and then at the end of the Forrest match as a couple examples off the top of my head.
  23. Ok so you’re just talking about this year?
