  1. I’d say 3. 2.5 might be a better line
  2. Maybe I’m nitpicking but part of my point is I’m not sure why you’re saying “rather.” Foreigners (including actual foreigners) training in the US for wrestling isn’t uncommon. So it seems like the swimming model confirms that if the qualification process for wrestling allowed multiple entries from the same country we wouldn’t see nearly as many guys transferring out.
  3. Is that really the other way around from wrestling (with “foreigners” training in America and Dagestan), other than that that guy is actually from France (but we do also have guys like Bekzod and Chamizo that were actually from other countries and trained here). Are foreign swimmers transferring to the US because it’s easier to make the team? I guess that has happened with men’s soccer though right?
  4. So does Blades going there confirm that Sunkist is likely losing much of their funding with Martori gone?
  5. I’m not sure this one is a great idea. It looks like his “inner circle” is free to join but it’s basically just a link to the website for some supplement company for the shirt he was wearing. I assume anyone that signs up is going to get bombarded with emails for supplements. He “only” has 8k followers on x. I bet he could have increased that significantly if he kept his updates there. And if he was going to go this route I feel like it would’ve made more sense to do that through Rudis or something and not a random supplement company, which also seems a little weird since many of his fans are young kids.
  6. I don’t mind the different events for swimming, track, etc. I can’t tell if the OP’s suggestion is serious but that’s an incredibly dumb idea. A team medal in addition to individual would also be cool though (even if just based on points from the individual results). But it doesn’t seem fair that multiple athletes from the same country can qualify in those sports but not wrestling. I imagine there are less transfers in track and swimming? I know there is the pole vaulter dude competing for Sweden, but seems like there were multiple reasons for that, and I believe he actually trains there.
  7. They did this at this year’s Olympics?
  8. Why do you think tOSU coaches can’t coach?
  9. Stieber is listed as the head coach
  10. Coon and Maroulis made the broadcast as well
  11. RTC coach makes sense for Scott IMO. He had made comments about how he didn’t seem to like NIL, so now he doesn’t have to deal with that
  12. Sounds like they wanted Snyder but he turned them down
  13. Yes that is what’s been said but I believe there was also a world team prior to that happening where he was on the team with some PSU guys that could have also encouraged it
  14. Oh yeah the other comment from HR is that they seem to think if they get a transfer that is not currently in the portal they think they can get a waiver.
  15. My understanding is they can’t get in trouble as long as their staff stays out of it. But to your second point, yeah I’m sure something like that (just not Cael himself) could and probably already does happen. Kerk being one example who may have been influenced by others to transfer to PSU.
  16. I read the thread on HR. Main other additional detail is talking about how supposedly ASU has reported Iowa and that Pritts and Brands “got into it“. Doesn’t seem like many of them listened to Tom Ryan’s interview where he said it was perfectly legal for people to offer money to guys to enter the portal as long as they are not part of the team’s staff.
  17. In the interview Pyles asked if he was doing body weight stuff and he said no. Seems what Brooks really meant is he may not have lifted for a couple months
  18. Is it true?
  19. Minnow claiming Teemer was paid $25K to apply to Iowa, which he did
  20. They do a good job, but this is a bit of an exaggeration. https://www.wrestlestat.com/team/38/lock-haven/profile 26th, 30th, 54th, 18th, 16th, 44th, 50th, 37th, 56th in the last 9 tournaments. The only 2 years where multiple guys made the blood round was Marsteller’s 2 years in 2018 and 2019. Their arguably most successful wrestlers have been transfers that got in trouble at their last school (you could maybe argue Perry, but his 2nd place finish was the only year he AA’d).
  21. Maybe at Hofstra too, getting eliminated right after naming a new coach!
  22. Well I think both Anthony (committing to Iowa despite them not actually recruiting him) and Angelo (throwing the PSU hat despite them not actually recruiting him) Ferrari have shown us that you can still “consider” schools that aren’t actually recruiting you.
  23. Didn’t they compete under the neutral flag in 2021 too due to doping sanctions?
  24. Good for him. I’m still confused if it was just Russian wrestling that told the athletes they were boycotting? Looking at this list, there are plenty of other athletes that accepted their invitations (but not all). But wrestling was the only one where several said “invitation initially accepted but subsequently declined.” There was one tennis player and one judoka (I think that’s what they’re called?) that said it as well, and judo looks to be the only sport where all eligible Russian athletes declined (3 others just showed as declined). There is also one Belarussian wrestler that also accepted. https://olympics.com/ioc/paris-2024-individual-neutral-athletes
