  1. Ahhhhh.... now it makes sense. It would stand to reason that an announcement would be made about that soon.
  2. I don't know what he is doing Tuesday, but the schedule says Sunday at Missouri. Not sure why there would be a cancellation of the match??? Haven't heard anything on the injuries, but my guess is that it's too early to tell. My guess was concussion based on the default after 10 minutes in concussion protocol. The elbow injury looked bad. I am guessing they both miss, but I have not heard or read anything official. We may not know anything until they step on the mat Sunday.
  3. I think they are at Missouri on Sunday... https://thesundevils.com/sports/wrestling/schedule/2023-24
  4. He was 3rd and 1st at 165 his senior year in 1997 - not sure about junior year. The talent in this tournament was crazy. https://washingtonwrestlingreport.net/wp-content/uploads/1997/97jrnat.htm
  5. LOL .... nah...I am going to say that there is another reason @Warm Up Champ posted that. As a side note, he is spot on - very tough tournament back in the day.
  6. What year?
  7. Agreed..... I started coaching when Cael was in middle school (1992-93 ish). No internet, not as many tournaments as we have now, so the whole idea of "generational talent" was not as prevalent as it is now because you just didn't have the media coverage or the opportunities that there are now. We relied a lot on Wrestling USA magazine and stuff HS coaches would get in the mail to see results, articles, rankings, etc. From my old perspective, I would say Cael was a national level talent for sure, but at that time I would not have said generational as we know it now.
  8. That would be the smart thing to do.... but you know. Shock the Hawk
  9. To be fair to the title of this thread, I haven't lost to anyone or anywhere since 1990. You have my permission to make a thread.
  10. Concussion most likely for Teemer since he did not clear in 10 minutes for protocol....Vasquez looked like a dislocated elbow...that's what announcers said and that's what it looked like and sounded like from the yelling. Im guessing he got an MRI for the damage. He has had terrible luck with injuries. I would be surprised if either wrestled this weekend. I guess if they know it's more serious and he's out for the season they can pull Ysa in at 141 or see if Ramos can make 141. I'm guessing Killic at 157?
  11. Do you know...cause if you know, you know.... ya know.
  12. Shock the Hawk! Great battle cry!
  13. Flo should have to have an official rep at every match and tournament they cover or they don’t get ranking rights. if you know…you know.
  14. Absolutely! It's amazing what one dual can do .... Having OkState out last year was incredible...largest crowd of the season (7k+) at Gill for any sport. One way that some of these top tier teams could help the sport (and some already do) is by going out and wrestling a lower level team at their place. Having a huge crowd with a big name team does a lot for the momentum of a program.
  15. He has done his part in helping Oregon State IMO.... wOSU went out the last two years to dual PSU... they are now coming out this season on Feb 5th to dual Oregon State. Will be a huge dual meet for wOSU at home.
  16. So if I understand correctly, the 15 matches cannot include a fft of any kind - win or loss - and only counts for matches wrestled? However, a med default where it happens during the match is still counted? Correct?
  17. Thread "What are the top 20 wrestling head coaches salaries" - You had a list and had him at 170 for 2022. Agree - I am sure there are a lot of other factors that went into the decision.
  18. It would not surprise me if on Rule 5495.14 section Q subsection 4 subsubsectiion 12 that you find in size 2 font, "Open tournament MFF do not count as a loss."
  19. You forgot the wrong turn at Albuquerque
  20. 100% agree.... If you get a chance, Dan Russel's book is a good read. Great guys. I agree, we won't see D2 teams like that able to compete against D1 programs like they did back then. As a side note, Oregon HS wrestling at that time was top notch - so many studs coming out of there from about 85-95. Portland State was a D2 monster at the time. Western Oregon and Southern Oregon were very good NAIA schools, you had Clackamas and of course Oregon and Oregon State just down the road. There were many other programs as well, but the wrestling in Oregon was phenomenal during that time.
  21. It's been quite a long time since we saw the D2 champs in the D1 tournament.... I think there will be some guys that will make some noise from time to time against D1 competition, but it's an exception. There was a time when the Portland States of the world with Dan Russsell and Co. could definitely compete with D1 competition.
  22. Yep he is … although he snuck by McClane in the wrestle off.
  23. Truax over Rowley 7-4 messenbrink 14-10 over Ruiz the true freshman.
  24. Medical Insurance covering the whole family versus insurance just for the employee is one. Yes it can vary. Not sure if it is a difference in comparison to the two schools or not, be definitely can be a consideration when comparing the whole salary package.
