It’s very good, and I’m a huge fan of O’Toole. He’s awesome. My only point is that when you’re comparing him and Carr both had had relatively similar careers, so using those stats to somehow make an argument for O’Toole in that specific match up just doesn’t make sense. Both have a Junior world title and a 1st and a 3rd at their two trips to NCAAs. Both of their championship seasons they had over 60% bonus. Splitting hairs between these 2 and I don’t think the stats argue one way or another.
-
That may or may not be true, but O’Toole did not have any of those, so it’s really meaningless to this discussion.

Is the strength at 165 unprecedented or what?
Crablegs replied to Jerry Callo's topic in College Wrestling
That is correct. 2017 184 had Nickal, Martin, and Dean, but Nickal hadn’t one a title yet heading in. Similar with 2018 125 that had Cruz and NATO as previous champs. Neither of them made the finals losing to future multiple time champs Suriano and Lee. Can’t think of a time there were 3 previous champs in the same NCAA bracket, but I’d think it has happened. -
You are not “essentially a redshirt freshman” if you wrestled a full season, conference, and NCAAs. Lol. That experience is invaluable. Otoole’s bonus was 64% last year. Carr had a higher bonus percentage in his championship season (65%).

Carr and O’Toole will likely match up 2 times before NCAAs. I think if any of the 65s can run the table they’ll be in the mix for Hodge as all 3 will be 2x champs. If O’Toole is able to beat Carr multiple times and then win NCAAs with Carr and Griffith, I’m giving it to him. He will have a lot of pins and a very strong schedule.

Takeaways from the NCWA All-Star Match?
Crablegs replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
I’m not sure it is really surprising. Hamiti is a very good wrestler but not a title contender. It went easy TD for O’Toole 15 seconds in and rideout for the rest of the period. More of the same in 2nd and 3rd. Hamiti never close to anything. -
It is possible to work a turn with the ankle hook. Holding an ankle with your hands it is not. End of that silly question.
-
Yes and it’s a good opportunity to mimic a real match. Have the guys make weight early in the season and warm up and prepare to wrestle just like it was a dual. The results of wrestle offs are not completely worthless, but they pale in comparison to results against actual competition.

Deserves its own thread.

I’m just curious why there hasn’t been a “big creator” join yet. If the platform is so clearly better, you’d think there has been enough time for one of them to come over. My guess is that the platform is better for monetizing a small, fringe audience. But, it will never work for mass appeal, so no one with a large audience will join. But if you have a small, die hard fan base (like wrestling) you’ll be ok. LOL on the crypto. Hope you’ve been cashing in your RAE and putting it in a savings account.

That is the point. I’m not coming at you specifically, but why do we have this thread? Where is the Henson thread or the Paniro thread? The win by Van Ness isn’t newsworthy in the slightest.
-
I’d pick Van Ness too. All 3 are freshman with barely a match or 2 under their belts. Van Ness was a significantly higher level recruit. The point is that there was nothing impressive with his match the other night. He killed a guy he should have killed. The other two wrestlers victories were much more impressive.

Paniro Johnson takes down Gomez. Caleb Hensen takes down Sasso. But those wins pale in comparison to what Van Ness is doing at 49.

I’m college I was very routine. I would eat the exact same thing, warm up the exact same way with a pre-weigh in workout and a post weigh in warm up. I was a 125 and absolutely hated when they drew weights. My routine was all about performing exactly 1 hour after weigh in. Could never figure out quite how to get it right if I was the 4th or 7th match of the night.
-
That’s true, just the example you used was a bad one to showcase that point.
-
A big reason for that PSU result is they didn’t put out their full team against Penn. They were without RBY, Brooks, Kerk. So, that is a little different. WI sent out all their top guys.

This. It is an insane system. I say shut it all down.

I said Greco was his specialty. He’s had the most success there, and this year that is the only style he competed in at WTT. So, again, it is his specialty. Never said he wasn’t good at other styles. My opinion is the further you go down the rabbit hole in Greco (such as focusing all summer in it preparing for world championships) the tougher it gets to have a ton of folkstyle success. I still think he’s going to be a multiple AA, which is awesome, but that is lower than I think most expectations would have been for him.
-
I don’t know that I’m correct, I never said anything. I only asked why you think Hamiti is better than Carr.

Boom! Go Bison!
