Carr has more upside in freestyle than Nolf imo. I think Blaze, Forrest, and Mirasola can be elite. They have to focus on freestyle first though.

If freestyle wrestling isn't the #1 priority, we will never be the consistent #1 team in the world. It's a priority for our women and they are seeing exceptional results from their young wrestlers. But, those girls are being trained by level coaches, not some funky high school coach with political connections. The best team in the ncaa focuses on folkstyle techniques that do not work at all in freestyle. Guys like Nolf and Nickal looked like world beaters in college. Neither will ever make a serious challenge for an Olympic gold medal. But, somehow they are regarded as unbeatable by the US fans.

He had a terrible tournament by anyone's standards. He left Columbus for the higher ground, even after Ohio State let him adjust his schedule for his freestyle aspirations. Which was the right thing to do imo. They lost dual meets because of this, but they had an Olympic champ on the team. No other team would let Kyle freelance. No one. And honestly. It's not that Kyle left Ohio State, its how he left. A need a new set of eyes? You got them Kyle.

We had a great run and still have some gas in the tank. Lee, Brooks, Dake medaling was great. Even though it was tough to watch their losses. Freestyle is about action and scoring. Honestly, we looked out dated. Trying to hang on to an one point lead with 2 minutes left is poor strategy. I think freestyle and greco are both easier styles to learn if you never introduce folkstyle. Folkstyle wrestling is for dinosaurs. It's outdated and boring, even compared to greco. I'd also add, there are great wrestlers throughout our world. We saw that one display. An honorable sport with great competitors. Great sportsmanship throughout.

Folkstyle isn't a popular sport. It's dying right in front of your eyes. The casual fans have no idea of what's going on.
