  1. I think this may actually be the year Fix gets the job done. Crookham is still a Fr and looks pretty solid, but he hasn't wrestled an athlete of Fix's caliber yet. Everybody loves Vito, but Vito is wrestling hurt and he's not scoring anywhere near as well as the end of last year. Fix's problem is he's too passive against great wrestlers, if he opened it up in the finals I'm sure he'd have at least 1 NCAA title by now. He's got some great offensive stuff if he'd ball up and use it in the finals.
  2. My take on Hamiti is probably a bad one!
  3. The Prophesied One.
  4. I love a good cringeworthy video of a guy who is obviously terrified of giving interviews
  5. The Brands boys are good coaches. Maybe they don't run the strictest ship judging from all the antics we've seen from Hawkeyes over the years, but they can coach guys up for the mat Also I'll say you are probably right that it's less risky to stick with them, but Iowa sure isn't going to be the dominant program again until they get somebody who can beat Cael, and we know the Brands can't beat Cael at recruiting or development. Iowa will have to take a chance on a different coach, or remain 2nd banana until Cael retires.
  6. I thought they were a package deal though, you either get all of them or none?
  7. I'm a little surprised. I knew about the weight cutting nonsense, mostly because of Marstellar and I knew about issues with his boy, who seems to have regressed after his 2nd year at OSU, but I didn't know there was so much other negativity (except for how Smith screwed over Chandler Rogers). Agreed on Coleman Scott, he's been a boon to the Cowboys. I'd like to see OSU officially make Scott the HC, but I expect we'll see several more disappointing OSU seasons before that happens (if ever).
  8. The Brands "brand" has been anger, but I've never gotten that image from John Smith. What I get from John is "I'm an old redneck who wants to ride out my final few years as comfortably as possible".
  9. The "christians" on here would most definitely be complaining if some guy won NCAAs and thanked Allah afterward and said "Christianity is false" and you are kidding yourself if you think the "christian" karens wouldn't cry very loudly afterward.
  10. The record is Cael's if he wants it. I hope he sticks around just to break Gable's record, and I can't imagine him going anywhere just yet.
  11. Imagine how good Hamiti would be if he had a good coach. Hamiti has basically been the same guy every year.
  12. Ramirez wouldn't have a conference title if Mesenbrink was in his conference.
  13. Why not see Hamiti over Ramirez? Hamiti has a better record and was more dominant in his wins, plus Hamiti wrestled a tougher schedule.
  14. I think Haines takes it, but I wouldn't be shocked if Meyer Shapiro won the whole shibang at 157.
  15. He was right. Of course the fact he apparently doesn't realize ALL the "prophets" are false is a bit of an issue.
  16. 1) KOT 2)Mesenbrink 3) Carr 4) Hamiti
  17. He sounds a lot smarter and mature than Askren.
  18. I wrestled back in the days of unlimited HWT in HS. I remember watching the finals of a tournament where one guy weighed 440 pounds, and the other one was a svelte 375 pounds, and neither was remotely close to being what's known as "athletic". Young punks today have no idea of what HWT used to be.
  19. 125 - Davis 133 - Fix 141 - Mendez 149 - Lovett 157 - Haines 165 - O'Toole 174 - Starocci 184 - Keckeisen 197 - Hidlay (you can call me crazy). Brooks is great, but the Hidlay boys got jobbed at NCAAs a couple times over the years and I think karma is going to come due. This will be the upset at NCAAs this year. Either that or Brooks wins by bonus HWT - Kerkvliet
  20. Is Eierman on the staff at Iowa? He seems like an easy hire to address scrambling deficiencies.
  21. He'll still have a friend in Jesus!
  22. Thank you, I missed that thread!
  23. Kerk has been a bit more dominant than Bastida this year. That, plus being an unbeaten Big 10 champ, is enough to make him the #1 seed. It shouldn't matter to Bastida where he's seeded since he's already beaten the likely #3 and #4 seeds. It always amazes me how well the pumped up 197 pounders do against the real big boys. I think Kerk might be a bit too athletic for Bastida to exploit his quickness against.
  24. I wouldn't be shocked to see Schultz beat anybody, to be honest. He's a brute, but he's more like the classic "fat guy" heavies than the modern athletic ones. I once saw him just straight up crumple another hwt to his back. No throw, no takedown, he just brute forced the dude over to his back. Schultz has problems against fast heavies that have good strength and technique (guys like Bastida), but I think he'd make easy work of Feldman. I don't think Feldman has enough power to handle Schultz.
