  1. You mean he can write? That's got to be new for a former Okie State guy!!
  2. I'll take your word on it.
  3. I believe that's true. Cael knows wear and tear can affect a team so he keeps his starters matches to 15 or less, usually, before Big 10s. I think that's also a reason why PSU's bench is so deep and good, the backups actually get a fair amount of wrestling against good Big 10 opposition (although the best Big 10 competition is, apparently, in the PSU room).
  4. No, but he's acting like guys defaulting out on other teams is hurting his team. Frankly, it's none of his damn business how coaches of other teams handle personnel issues. Plus, belly aching over a guy who got 9th at conference not qualifying for nationals is straight up pathetic. Does he believe in participation trophies for everyone?
  5. Schultz has 10. I'm pretty sure I saw another qualifier with only 9 matches.
  6. It's pretty hard to get upset about a guy with a 16-12 record that finished 9th at his conference tournament not getting selected for NCAAs, at least for me. Maybe Manning should visit a shrink. The dumbest part is he didn't even wait to see if Starocci, who techfalled Bubba this year by the way, wrestled. The only way Manning's argument, if you can even call it that, makes sense is if Starocci doesn't wrestle at NCAAs.
  7. I've watched lots of NU duals but I've never seen Manning acting like any more of a fruitcake than other coaches, especially the Brands. But I've never heard the Brand's boys mewling like bitches over people from other teams defaulting out, either. Manning sounds like an excuse-making Karen to me.
  8. I had no idea that Manning was such a whiny bitch.
  9. Trent Hidlay is the first athlete to openly thank Satan following his victory over Aaron Brooks. "Hail Satan", said Hidlay as he held his hands up in devil horn fashion before downing a fifth of fermented mare's milk and pig's blood as a pair of large crows flew down and landed on his shoulders. Hidlay then announced he'd see the interviewer again at Sr Nationals before a gaping, flaming pit opened at his feet and he slowly descended into the bowels of Hell, with a satanic choir loudly singing "Afternoon Delight" in the background. Don't blame Hidlay, "Afternoon Delight" is the only song allowed in Hell.
  10. I don't know what his problem is. Yeah, I get that he's afraid of giving up position but he waits for the perfect shot before taking it. Fix needs to make some shit happen out there instead of standing around waiting for something to happen. Yeah, he beats up on all the weaklings on his schedule, but when he wrestles another elite wrestler he clenches up and barely does anything. Super annoying. Maybe if Fix wrestled aggressively like Messenbrink the fans would cut him some slack. What bothers me about Fix isn't his age (there are lots of guys doing their 6th and 7th years in school now), or the PED suspension, but that he hasn't improved since he's been at OSU. I think the coaching staff at Oklahoma State failed to make that kid better. There isn't much iimprovement, in general, coming out of that wrestling room and it concerns me. I think Fix would've done better in Iowa's room, the Brands boys do pretty good work with the little guys.
  11. Agreed, there's no way Fix drops out if he loses before the finals, unless he gets hurt. OSU will need his points to have any chance of making the podium. I can't imagine Vito dropping out either. He's been stubborn enough to wrestle hurt his year so far and still be one of the best guys in the country. Plus Cornell will need his points, too!
  12. Vito is definitely gimpy. I think he'll be a 5th/6th place guy this time around, he's just not been as good this year as he was last year. Now watch him go out and dominate all 5 matches, hehe.
  13. That's not many guys for 30 years, I'd have expected a lot more. Wow.
  14. Oh wow, I'm way off. Davis is only 5 years older than Chertow, I was thinking it was over a decade!
  15. Wow, didn't you hear? The Nittany Lion locker room has been hit with the flu. Probably most the team won't make the trip to NCAAs. Just kidding! That would suck bad, am I right?
  16. Isn't there a wrestling tournament named in Shorty's honor?
  17. There's probably nothing left of the guy but a colossal skeleton that weighs 100 pounds
  18. I heard he's decided to wrestle his Sr year and has transferred to Oklahoma State to pursue a future in human/cow relations.
  19. "Will Lewan awarded Outstanding Wrestler and Gorriaran Award after pinning all his opponents at the NCAA wrestling championship. "
  20. There's a big gap between D1 and D2/D3. I thought the different levels were much closer until I started looking at wrestlestats results. Looking at small tournaments where reserves from D1 schools wrestle the guys from smaller programs shows that the D1 reserves usually smoke even good D2/D3 wrestlers. There are exceptions of course.
  21. I remember Karl Lynes was a JUCO champ back in the 80's and transferred to Okie State. He was 4th place at NCAAs in 1984. He was seeded #4 in 1983 but lost in his first match and the stupid repechage system was used back then. When the guy who beat him didn't make the finals, poof, Karl was done. JUCO is actually a notch below D3 isn't it?
  22. Seemed like those guys were always trying to body lock each other!
  23. I'm not counting anybody out. I'm an old timer who has seen an unseeded guy with a losing record win the whole ball of wax. I'm saying NU might have 5 or 6 AAs out of the 8 you listed. If they do better than that, good for NU.
  24. Was Barry in his 40s at the time?
  25. Only 4 of the guys you listed are even seeded in the top 8, seems like it would take a good deal of luck to get even 5 or 6 AAs, let alone 8.
