125 Davis 7th ( I dont think losing on the front side will cause him to wrestle any differently kid seems like a gamer and the weight is obviously nuts. My biggest question mark is still seeing him against someone thats gonna be in on his legs) 133 Nagao r12 (seeding feels very important for him to me so could come down to how he does at big10's I'm quite high on nasir bailey, wells, moore, shawyver who are all ranked behind him at the moment but we will likely get to see the shawyver match which will obviously change my thoughts) 141 Bartlett 2nd (kid knows how to win even though it rarely looks decisive, I am giving real a slight edge still given the h2h and having been in the finals I also think losing is probably going to be a kick in the ass for him) 149 Kasak 7th ( I think we have 3 true freshman in the blood round with kasak,Webster and watters) 157 Haines 5th (another one where I think his draw could be a big factor teemer, zerben, meyer I would all probably pick against him right now but again that could change post big10's) 165 Mesenbrink 4th (this weight is insane I think he pushes either keegan or carr in the semis if keegan i think he may get cradled keegan has probably the best cradle in collegiate wrestling and I've seen mitchell have a cradle locked up on him by both ruiz and hepner now I think despite being better than julian he may get a bit sad on the backside and lose for 3 and 4 and then maybe never lose again similar to zain 174 Starocci 1st (Ive said I think this weight is weak and thats not to detract from carter I think hed win if it was a strong weight I just dont see anyone even having a shot of beating him) 184 Truax 7th (I think being in college for as long as he has may be biting him a bit just has not looked quite as good as previous years. He certainly could finish higher, and it would not surprise me in the slightest) 197 Brooks 1st (really excited for the trent match and buchannen although I dont think we will get to see both unfortunately) HWT Kerk 1st (wyatt I think will wrestle him better but kerk looks incredible right now)

spratley rides momentum of figs win and avoids any big moves 3-0 okie state daton wins but kade gets a takedowns and threatens putting him to his back 6-0 okie state Gioffre keeps it respectable 9-0 okie state hoping to see Williams here I just prefer watching him wrestle 12-0 okie state harold Brock hits 2 go behinds 12-3 Keegan does not let olejnik go shin whizzer and puts on a clinic 12-7 thompson gets his biggest win of they year in a boring one with mocc 15-7 plott puts it on whiting 19-7 rocky bounces back and avenges last years loss 19-10 big Elam remains undefeated 19-13 OSU ( I hope I math'd correctly) -
Thats kinda my point I think Yaz beat him 9-3 but he was obviously still physically maturing a ton given where he wrestles now where as Aaron and maintained the same size same with Chamizo although to not the same degree.
-
if figs is healthy and finds his form that is gonna be one hell of a landmine come NCAA's because even if he wins out at this point I would imagine hes going to have a low seed
-
more so thinking about his match with tom crook last year that he got beat quite badly in. I think he would have a very hard time finishing on longer guys and while hes very good on bottom against guys who throw legs he seems to struggle against more conventional rides even at 133.
-
I am also not a PSU fan but ultimately it will count as a win and not effecting seeding in anyway also kinda evens out the illegal cutback Vinnie hit on him at dapper dan I guess. I just think this reaction time thing is crazy I personally did not think it was even a position where danger needed to be counted I thought he was on his back long enough that it was just a takedown.

I have admittedly only watched Nic at the clarion open V-tech dual and CKLV but that was far and away the best hes looked especially getting to legs. I think he may have some weight cut issues because he looked in all honesty bad at clarion and on day one at CKLV he looked terrible. If I recall national duals was also a two day weigh in so that may be something to look out for at big 10's and NCAA's. Unfortunately for him I don't think he has the frame for 141 and I assume cannon will go 149 moving forward and Jesse will stay at 141.
-
I think he would have been our rep for at least two cycles more than likely however I do think he matured so early that his progression from when we last saw him to now may have not been that extreme so I don't know that we can say for sure he would've been medaling every year given how strong 65kg is, but I do think wed have a gold or two from 2017 to now.

major takeaways. Davis is not a lock to AA, Kasak is a dog, Mitchell can go to both sides 20 different ways, Welsh can freaking handfight, Rogotzke is going to look for a chin whip for 7minutes, Kirk is enormous, Mendez and beau is gonna be close everytime. -
Not picking kade to beat Daton by any means but I think this match is going to have a lot of really fun exchanges and I fully expect to see both guys try and hit an inside trip or 3
-
My initial thought when seeing this was Carr easily, but after thinking about it a bit more hall has a style very similar to Ramirez (not as powerful) so I could see hall snagging a takedown or two somewhere. Keegan really melted Hall though and I think could have scored more had he committed to his leg attacks earlier and Carr is probably the best finisher in the country once hes on someones legs so still definitely taking Carr but hall could certainly make it fun.

Vito seems to be a bad matchup for Daton having won their last two meetings once in freestyle once in folk. While im not saying its impossible for Daton to beat him I think he'd need Vito to be off which we've seen happen. I do like Daton against crookham as well as nagao and ragusin. Ragusin is a guy I could see posing Vito issues he reminds me a lot of Latona with his body type but I think he punishes errant shots better than Latona and is much quicker to the corner.

Brayden palmer with one day weigh ins is a natty champ Brayden palmer with two days however thats a diff story. he started his career at 141 I believe

the app is updated to the 22nd the website is the 29th from what ive seen

I think similarly to quentin he was on a roster with such dominant bonus machines he gets a bit forgotten. On another program he would be one of the first names to come to mind as an all timer.

D-1 Week in Preview, January 29-February 4

Davis vs Mccrone: I think davis should win this rather easily mccrone is sorta funky and could pose issues on top but after davis got away from deagustino i doubt mccrone does anything more than potentially get a leg in and some riding time while davis works out of it nagao vs bouzakis: nagaos speed to the leg and nics seeming inability to keep guys off his legs seems like a recipe for a lot of takedowns. I think i would actually caution nagao from throwing legs as nic seems to have a very good feel from bottom and shift his weight really well + hes incredibly explosive. Aside from nic catching something I could see nagao pushing for bonus here especially if he takes him down and flattens him out. match of the dual: I could see this match going one of two ways. Jesse really picking his spots and having limited output and it coming down to beaus scrambling and leg defense as to who gets the takedown. Or jesse shooting himself out of the match. I dont really see a world where Jesse wins this by more than one score I believe alirez is the only person to do that both in folk and free since beaus decent, its a toss-up in my book. 149: personally, I think dylan has had a very good year Austin is just that dude. I favor Dylan in the match, but it feels like a blood round type of match it should show if kasak is ready to push for the podium. 157: could see haines push for the major expecting something like 5-2 maybe 8-2 wilcox is pretty tough 165: I really rate hepner hes scrambly and good on top. I think he keeps it to a decision but if mitchell gets on his offense early Hepner is almost certainly going to fade late so it could get ugly in that instance =. 174: welsh handfights like hes a 5th year and holds position very well, Carter is Carter. I think it takes a bit for carter to find his first takedown but then he puts on a tough ride and breaks welsh and it snowballs from there. 184: I have no idea bernie hasnt looked great since the all star to me and idk who osu is wrestling 197: geog is pretty tough that said aaron ends it early third or before the third. 285: I dont know that there is a worse matchup for feldman i think dan could snag his ankle without bending and he also has like 40lbs on him. -
My favorite scenes from the film were after Yianni lost match two showing everyone's mixed emotions as well as Yianni in the tunnel I thought that was a pretty powerful shot. As well as just how much Grey and Frank care for those guys. Im sure most every coach is like that, but it just was very prevalent in the film with how they would speak to Vito before and during his matches.
-
not taking anything away from him because hes very strong but he lifts especially when hes dumbbell pressed from what ive seen look like they are loading his joints a lot and are also not controlled and in a short range of motion. So I wonder if doing that over the years has hindered his rom and speed. I know boxers will train explosive reps but thats usually over a full range and with nowhere even remotely close to a max load.

is Kaleb Larkin taking a redshirt this year?
Truzzcat replied to Bardamu911's topic in College Wrestling
I think Kaleb may be focusing on trials. I personally do not think hes a factor but coming off of his BF win im guessing hes putting his focus towards that I would imagine the cut to 143 point whatever is brutal for him his a long dude. -
