  1. By far the most credentialed wrestler to ever make the jump. He is also only 28 which is a lot younger than both DC and Yoel were. I believe hes very tight with Khabib and islam so I assume he will train with them at least in Russia maybe also at AKA. I hope he transitions well I get rather annoyed when people say mma guys can beat wrestlers in matches simply because they took down x guy in an mma bout. So if he goes to MMA and gets outwrestled I will be fuming.
  2. was not sure if this would go in mma or here Ill probably make a thread in mma as well but sidakov will not be training for Paris he is transitioning to mma.
  3. I think Jacob was actually perceived to be a bit better in high school. I wonder if Evan is just naturally a bit smaller and 133 just ends up being the optimal weight for his style and build despite having to cut a ton. I have also heard Jacob always cut his ass off in high school and I think he was 138 his senior year. Edit: I think Evan may have also just made a level jump that Jacob did not make. As mentioned, Jacob took two not great losses last year whereas in Evans true freshman year he got majored and teched by Julian Farber. He then beat Farber 8-5 a few weeks later and this season teched him and majored him. Also, evidence of his progression was the difference between the first and second match with Fix although that could have been because Fix refused to wrestle at nationals.
  4. I honestly feel like Iowa was the only program that would work for him. I assume he't out on Okie state and PSU so I'm not sure who else has the funding to pay him what he thinks he's worth. I suppose he could take a pay cut but I would be shocked if that happened when he could try and given how he looks on the pads fail at MMA. Id like to see him back in wrestling love or hate him he brings eyes and is exciting as well as being very talented. It just feels like we have done this dance two or three times now and the best fit is now no longer an option.
  5. very good snag for the Iowa but one of them I assume will be sitting for awhile with Arnold,Ferrari,Riggins,Keuter all having a lot of time left.
  6. I really feel like if he develops 1 or 2 more go to leg attacks that are not the firemans hes going to be one of the best guys we've seen in a long long time. His body awareness and feel seem satiev level.
  7. Jax feels like he could be anywhere from 133-165 he has the frame to be a lot bigger, but I don't think he cuts much weight to even hold 57kg right now (purely an assumption he could be cutting a lot).
  8. I cannot imagine how good he could be offensively if he could shoot from ties rather than 3 feet away from someone. He has an unreal ability to pull shots in but against the best guys he seems to get stuck or countered there about as often as he scores. he started to utilize elbow control a lot more around that 2022 world run but it seems like he's gotten away from that, he had a really nice outside step as well as a duck/boot scoot from elbow control that he hit on amouzad twice. Ultimately, I would just like to see him get in more positions where his hips are under him when he's shooting, as well as like you said get more reactions out of people.
  9. seem like very good and normal kids
  10. Was listening to FRL and they were speculating where some of the top guys may go thought it would be a good chat over here Bassett: PSU,Iowa,Okie state with Iowa actually being the front runner by everyones opinion which shocked me I still think he's a PSU guy Jax: front runner seems to be OSU but they feel his options are open Rayney bros: Union county is very close to the university of Illinois so I guess they have trained there with Webster and those two + Munaretto who they mentioned may also be interested in Illinois as well as tOSU because of his friendship with Davino Illinois could have one hell of a team in a few years Ross: consensus seems to be he will probably go the football path although the fact hes doing freestyle well into the football season is an optimistic sign. If he wrestles he seems like Iowa through and through. Mocco: A few people have mentioned the ATT facility in happy valley and his dad being the head wrestling coach at ATT I'm also not super sold on Cole Mirasola being a heavyweight or a super effective one at least by PSU standards I think thats a good fit but he seems pretty wide open other than the possible American top team connection. Aaron Stewart: Another Illinois boy if they can shoot 50% on their guys/ the Rayneys they will have their best class in a long time. I remember Stewart being a world beater in Junior high and then I did not really hear about him his Freshman year. this last season though he looked awesome at ironman beat a really really tough Asher Cunningham seems like a potentially more offensive minded Jacori teemer (similar build and athleticism) I think hes going to be really good. Keanu Dillard: Like Munaretto I think he could be a lifer at 125 which I think makes you very high valued even if you are not quite the most elite which is not the case for Dillard hes a 2x pa state champ in aaa and just made a cadet team. All reports from Marsteller and the stellar team is that hes incredible and hes about as positionally sound as it gets. I tend to always just through the Bethlehem guys to Lehigh but I could see him at a big 10 school probably PSU leading the way just with the PA ties. They are going to be loaded at 125 but Lilledahl looks like hes put on some size so I don't know that hes going to be a 4 year guy there and Desmond looks like he could be a 133 as well if he ends up staying at psu. Jayden James: I think this kids going to be really really good. I like guys who start small and grow I think there is just a level of technique and feel you need to have to be high level at the lighter weights that you may not necessarily pickup if you started heavier. Hes been growing a ton and Willie has him projected at 174. The delbarton to Cornell pipeline seems pretty strong.
  11. I sort of hate this taking political view points out of it I just want to be able to watch the best guys compete. I also want both Kyles to get their chance at getting a loss back as well as seeing the United States beat a full strength Russia which I think we can do. Ultimately it does not feel as legitimate without the best guys in the field so I'll be hoping Sidakov and Sadulaev are allowed to go.
  12. I think 157/165 are probably Casey's ideal weights but I don't know about 165 yet. He was far too big for 141 so I would just hate to see him use 2 of his years at the wrong weight. I absolutely agree though they can have a really good team this year so if they think they can push for a trophy I would bet they pull one of them. Both guys styles I think also improve as they get heavier, I think that pace gets harder and harder to match the bigger you are.
  13. part of me hopes that they just tell Ech he has to suck the weight and they roll out the same lineup as last year but with chittum at 165 and paniro at 157. Everyone has eligibility left besides Yonger though so it probably makes sense to red shirt and get guys where they feel comfortable.
  14. Honestly, I'm not sure who is more hindered by the cut it sounds like Aaron is big big but he has the summer to get his weight more around 189 vs 197 so it may not be as big of a factor.
  15. really like this breakdown. I am not as confident with Spencer, I view him and Zain very similarly and that is largely because of the weight. I think both 57 and 65 probably have 6-8 guys that could win the bracket on any given day including our guys. My fear for spencer is that we have not seen him compete against someone who is going to attack his legs with a lot of volume. Nico did to an extent and was able to get in, but spencer was able to stalemate the positions. Stevan,Abakarov,Higuchi,Uulu, harutunyan are all going to try and score a lot and I think will finish more efficiently than Nico. Spencers two biggest x factors will be he is a true 125 and obviously his par tear. Those are probably what differentiate him from Zain to me. While I view Zain as the same caliber wrestler, he is also in a monster field (likely even deeper than 57) but on top of that he is cutting weight. I'm supremely confident we medal 74 and up given our draws although brooks could draw in Yaz r1 and he may be a slow starter in his first Olympics ever so that concerns me a bit, but gods will shall guide him.
  16. ISU brings everyone back aside from Yonger and Terukina but they have Castillo coming in this season to red shirt as well as Daniel Herrera and sawyer bartelt who could both go heavy. Looking like a very strong team for 2026. 125: Castillo 133: E. Frost/Meza 141: E frost/ J frost 149: Ech 157: Swiderski/Chittum 165: Swiderski/Chittum 174: Gaitan/Rojas 184: Tate Naaktgeborn 197: C. Carroll/Bartelt 285: C. Carroll/Bartelt/Herrera
  17. he did wrestle 174 his first two seasons then jumped to 197.
  18. while on the big board topic @Husker_Du has a team ever had two 1's for two different classes before? thinking about Bo and Melvin throw in Jax at 2 and the slew of other guys (slezdionowksi seems to be jumping levels atm). I personally think Melvin may end up being as good or better than Jax and Bo his ability to create angles for just a freshman is absolutely unreal.
  19. I'm very bullish on Mutarelli his top game is about as elite as it gets, he's wrestled Sement 3 times in the past year and has yet to give up a point. Very hopeful that Olivarez goes to college but as Willie mentioned he's already super elite in BJJ and I know he trains striking as well. I'm guessing he has pretty serious MMA aspirations and 4-5 years of college may hamper those a bit. Mutarelli feels like a Lehigh guy to me.
  20. he got a medical red shirt he was on the last FRL talking about everything pretty good listen honestly.
  21. Brands says his intention is to go 174 so now you have PK,Arnold,Brands all potentially going 174 and throw in Angelo who seems to want to go right away and Caliendo + siebricht who may both be in the mix for 157. These are good problems for Iowa but at the same time they could potentially not have a guy good enough to qualify at 133,141 so it seems odd to have that much talent up top and nobody down low.
  22. Joey looked absolutely awful in his last fight he was so out of shape, was a tough look for me because I was telling all my friends how good he was. I would say Meredith Is one of the more credentialed and pico despite not having a college career. Not an american but Rinya nakamura won u23's in 2017 and took 5th at senior worlds the same year.
  23. oh god my b it just popped up on my YouTube feed
  24. found this today for anyone that has not seen it.
  25. I'm almost positive he's no longer in the portal and he is also more than likely going 165.
