  1. Prior to this you could have certainly argued they had the best combined recruits for 2025/2026 either them or Okie state.
  2. I think you are safe with V rob he made a post about how NC state was the only team that wanted him to come visit. He seems like the type of guy that something like that means a lot to him.
  3. To the people that believe he did not get "paid" and I would like to preface this buy saying more power to you get your money I just hate when people talk about Iowa paying guys, but PSU does not. The rumored figure for Bassett from V-tech was 2 million, this was after Jayden had Verbal'd, so he had whatever offer he was getting. I think it would be insane after v-tech did not land Bassett if they were aware that Jayden was being offered to not throw some of that Bassett money at him to try and keep him as he is the next best thing for the 2026 class. So, I would assume PSU at least came close to whatever figure they were willing to throw out.
  4. Not overly shocking he and PJ are training partners, but he is Forrest/Bassett level in my opinion I would honestly take him over Bassett. I think the 174 projections may be a bit extreme he grew a lot his sophomore year, but he seems to have settled in around 150 since then. My hopes for okie state to catch up have greatly diminished in the last 48 hours.
  5. ok now I'm pissed that kid is special.
  6. I believe anthony robles started in 9th grade.
  7. @Husker_Du put out the crystal ball go check it out! He has ono at 141 with Blaze redshirting not really what I want to talk about just putting that out there to avoid questions about lineup. He has Ono taking third and I went through a wave of emotions. First thought was "that seems high" and then I thought actually this guy is so good on his feet it does not matter. Then I dug into the guys at the weight and came back to the conclusion that at least at 141 I think 3 is too high and there could be a few match ups where he simply starts the match down 2-0. The immediate guys that stick out to be that pose the biggest issues are the guys Willie has ahead of him Mendez and Hardy. Both of these guys I think can go into the second period down at worst 6-2 and it could very well be that folk positioning allows them to keep it closer than that and even get takedowns in situations Ono is unfamiliar.I think it is unlikely that he becomes proficient enough on bottom that he does not at least give up 2 minutes of riding and a stall point against guys that good on top. What becomes a huge factor to me is choice. If I am PSU If Ono wins the toss I think you 100% go neutral in the second. I do not think you want him going down and getting exhausted underneath. So then you are put in a position where he is tired in the third potentially down on riding time and only up a few points with stall calls. I have never seen Ono tired but there is a big difference between 6 minutes of neutral wrestling with a lot of stoppages and an intermission between periods and 7 minutes of wrestling with scrambling, leg passing and wrestling. I think his style and success of it is very predicated on his positioning and if that breaks down from fatigue I see guys being able to get his hands on the mat and run corner because of his upper body posture. Now when looking at the crystal ball the only guys I think are good enough on their feet or good enough and extending positions and limiting damage, who are also turners on top or can create enough of an image of activity to create stall calls are Frost,Lemley,Stanich,Mendez,Hardy,Jack,Composto. That is a lot of land mines for me though to predict him to do worse than third but honestly coming over to a completely new style I think just being an AA is an incredible accomplishment for him. I could be completely miss guided though and he could learn enough on bottom from zain pounding on him every day to stay active and use his explosiveness to get away on even the best guys I just don't think that's the most likely scenario first year. Just something I was thinking about on my lunch break would love to hear your guys opinions. I will add I think 133 because of the styles guys present is a much cleaner path for him.
  8. another guy I forgot RSF (MIN) Charlie millard (askren product I think he is going to be really good)
  9. He beat kasak 3-4 times in high school they would go back and fourth but I think he has been exclusively wrestling greco for about 2 years.
  10. Brandon Cannon, Jesse, Ben I think will all put questions about their ability to develop to rest. However, that may just be a testament to Jaggers and Stieber.
  11. I believe that is the plan but he will definitely be undersized to start.
  12. terrible oversight on my end.
  13. How long was Uetake training folk prior to wrestling it? Just curious.
  14. Lehigh: 125: Seymour 133: Crookham 141: Stanich 149: Van Hoecke (this kids fun not sure if he can get down) 157: Rozynski 165: Brignola 174: Rogers 184: Rogers 197: - (if they could get a good transfer that would be awesome) 285: Nate Taylor Stanford: 125: Provo 133: Knox 141: Valencia 149: Paro/Cholakyan 157: Cardenas 165: Garvin 174: Norman 184: Posada 197: - 285: - These are my two picks for most improved teams next year I think both will push for a top 5 finish.
  15. was just doing that haha.
  16. Forgot some guys (Michigan) Brock Man (kids going to be a problem) (Michigan) Cam Catrabone (really good on top) (NEB) Lj Araujo (NEB) Cade ziola (MIN) Gavin nelson
  17. I am really excited for Eli the way he wrestles for a big guy is really fun. I forgot about cericho for cornell as well coming off grey shirt. He did not have a grey shirt that makes me think he is an AA threat like Joy or Ruiz thinking recently but I think he could be good.
  18. True Freshman: (PSU) Blaze (PSU) Duke (OKST) Lockett (OKST) Vega (I think he probably redshirts unless he is clearly better than Hughes) (OKST) Robideau (MISSOU) Mendoza (Cornell) Knox (I heard he may grey shirt not sure if there is any substance to that in my opinion he should go right away at 125) (Cornell) Correa (V-TECH) Seidel (V-TECH) Burton (Iowa) Deluca (PITT) Vince bouzakis (feels like a guy that would go right away for them not sure he reaches the same level of success as the others) Grey shirt: (Cornell) Jaxon Joy (ASU) Larkin RS/MS (Iowa) Ferrari (PSU) Ryder (PSU) Mirasola (PSU) Mirasola (Connor not sure how he gets in the lineup) (OKST) Merill (Nebraska) Lauridsen (beat smith in the wrestle off) (Missou) Sinclair (ASU) Older Larkin None freshman coming off RS or MS: (Lehigh) Crookham (Lehigh) Stanich (Lehigh) Brignola (Lehigh) Taylor (PSU) Nagao (Michigan) Ghadali (ISU) Bastida
  19. just meant for Iowa and true freshman!
  20. A lot of these kids do not seem to want to RS Blaze seems like a team guy so I bet he will do whatever the coaches ask but if they leave it up to him I think he picks where he goes and the other guys may be SOL.
  21. he went from a thin 86kg to a big 97kg during his layoff and I think it was from like the ages of 24-27 so not exactly still growing hes iranian too so more than likely 27-30.
  22. He said he did not know how long when asked.
  23. There is heavy speculation that he was still on for that event because once worlds rolled around he was an absolute shell of himself he tech pinned snyder in the same event and then went on to lose 2 of 3 to shabani who had never done anything on the senior level got the nod for the olympics still and lost to olikadze round 1 6-3.
  24. In terms of his international career my immediate thought is that this could have been a bad move for ono. Yes I think he will learn new things and get better. But there is a very real chance that in the coming years his main competition is coming from that room and they will likely have the blueprint on how to beat him.
  25. he spoke about needing a visa and said he will not be back in America for a long time. I want it to be known absolutely nobody is going with this kid on their feet but folkstyle rules will allow good guys to potentially limit the damage. He is incredible and I am sure he will learn fast but I think he is going to have serious issues on the mat at least in year one if he is not training here over the summer and only has the fall to work on that. He is also probably the most scouted wrestler I can think of in recent memory. If you were asking me to pick Blaze vs Ono in folk though I am taking Blaze all day right now. I think guys like Nasir or bouzakis would be able to put up a lot of points on him from the top position as well its just hard to predict a guy that talented and skilled how quickly he can bridge that gap.
