I really like this because it incentivizes competing in other tournies with the goal of increasing your seed therefore increasing your likelihood of reaching the finals. It's not perfect and nothing ever will be, but I like the intent behind the decision. Brand value and strength of competition means something in Hodge voter's eyes and this year's 285 crop + Air Force schedule doesn't carry enough weight, though that is no fault of Hendrickson's other than choosing to enlist in the first place.

He was a generational NCAA wrestler who had the awful luck of being "only" the second most dominating wrestler his sophomore (Zain), junior (Spencer), and senior (Bo's Helping Hand) seasons. If there was ever a season that a Hodge should have legitimately had co-winners it should have been his senior season.
