  1. I also think the real sweat spot of taking advantage of the new portal system is a teams ability to get Sophomores-Seniors. As I mention before Grad transfers have been a thing forever so I call that statistic a wash. And there’s a pretty standard history of Redshirt Freshman or even regular Freshman requests on a transfer due to not liking the program after reaching campus or not feeling they will get into the lineup quick enough due to tough upperclass competition. Get those Sophomores-Seniors that could have remained at their current school seems to be the portals sweet spot for changing a teams dynamic.
  2. I still am one that looks at transfers in two different lights. Teams gaining Grad transfers vs. teams getting portal under-grad transfers. Since Grad-transfers have been around for ages, I don’t look at that as a change that would be any different than usual. As opposed to under-grad portal transfers that are now having a new impact on some programs quick moving up or down as a dual team or in NCAA AAs. So to throw a side bar into your original question I’d say what teams are being effected most from those under-grad portal transfer.
  3. But I was told Johnny was the hero of that story. That punk Jersey kid Daniel tried to steal his girl and should have been called for an illegally kick to the face during the All-Valley finals. Barney Stinson gets it.
  4. “Based on a True Story/Event” translates to take an inspirational story and create a money making entertainment piece out of it. If you are taking most of any “Based on a True Story/Event” as a history lesson you are doing it wrong. I’m sure Robles was told multiple time they were going to have to Hollywood the story up both for time allotted to tell the movie and certain events to make it a movie piece for anyone. Since he stuck with them as an advisor I’m guessing he was Ok with most of creative liberties they decided to take. As a history teacher I always tell kids to be inspired by the film, but be smart enough to do your own research on the historical people/events. You likely will learn more details and background which will help you like certain aspects better, but don’t be surprised if you are also disappointed in certain other aspects due to the movie glossing things over to create a hero moment or making it up for entertainment value.
  5. 9th - Penn HS 10th - New Prairie HS 11th - New Prairie HS 12th - Transferred to Jimtown HS (something said about being closer to a relative?), but then elected not to complete in HS not sure if eligibility became a factor again.
  6. I mean if he hasn’t shown an interest in agricultural science then Cornell may not be his best fit.
  7. Robles had AAed prior to that senior finals match. But I actually felt the better sports movie angle would have been for Roble and McDonough to wrestle in the second round of NCAA that “junior year” and have McDonough stop his every move and run him over. Kinda signifying Robles had more work to do to reach the level of even competing with McDonough by the next years. Thus the intense focus and training before the finals. Having him make the “finals” as a junior kinda made it feel like he was right there and so only needed to make a small adjustment for the senior run. So not as dramatic/climactic of an ending. I did like hearing about the behind the scenes family struggle angle, but agree with the above post that parts of it were drawn out enough it did take away from the athletic side of things. I think they could have told the same home story with a few less minutes of the movie for several scenes. But what do I know I’m not a film writer.
  8. So is this down to the actual serious candidates yet or do we need to wait for another cut or two?
  9. Seems like the least amount of TV aired matches/events I’ve ever seen. Used to be able to catch some duals and at least a tournament final or two between one of the ESPN channels, Big10 network, and the ACC network by this time of year. Now almost everything’s behind a paywall of some sort.
  10. I’m still listening.
  11. As always a seasonal favorite, but Jadidi really should be enjoyed year round.
  12. That’s seems more often than not.
  13. Crowd always want blood and constant action. That fight didn’t deliver and in their boredom the crowd started joining in on the chant.
  14. I’m really starting to believe they do.
  15. I was there it was a crazy battle of attrition. Attacks throughout, not a hanging on each other snooze fest.
  16. Basically make it or the actors in it eligible for any of the film award the movie has to be at least shown in a certain number of theaters on a limited release. Then they can put it out on Prime. It’s showing in Indianapolis this Saturday as part of a Film Festival.
  17. It was OK. It’s pretty rare that any movie or series made 20+ years after the original aired is ever solid.
  18. hope this lands better than football is going
  19. I got my favorite I could root for. But honestly I would like to see VTech to get a good look. He say he wants to be the changing face of the program well that is one on this list that on the brink of rising another level if a few things fall their way.
  20. Watched it PAX TV on Sunday late afternoon when each episode originally aired. Not sure when any reruns were shown.
  21. Well another month and we might actually be down to the list of schools that may have realistically been considered.
  22. WNO had a featured weight class each year where they try to narrow down the top guy where several competitors are close to equal. That’s the featured weight this year.
  23. I maybe able to deal with the in thread ads, but getting a new mini pop up video every time I change the page I’m on is a little overkill. Starting to feel like the Flo when I’m trying to watch action during a live event.
  24. You forget Fantasy Match Taylor has yet to lose. He runs the bracket and then bests Dake afterward.
