  1. Someone should take a shot at checking into a couple of them. Japans having a solid Olympics.
  2. That could be true but by the rules now the wrestler has to confirm the challenge. So you would think the wrestler would get the reviewed sequence they were asking for. Again I don’t see a way Dake wins a challenge on what happened on that TD, not even sure what’s worth challenging cause he wasn’t close to a turn. But the rule seem to indicate it’s in the wrestlers hands to agree to a challenge so Dake should still get the one he was asking for. Language barriers may add some confusion but you have to imagine one of the officials would understand he was challenging the later sequence.
  3. If you look at the video playing on the screen above during the review, which is the same video the officials watch (per the rules), it was of Dake being driven out of bounds while he had a chest wrap and his knees were close to the match. That sequence ended with the Serb scoring a point for Dake’s “step out.”. Dake was nit challenging that scoring sequence nor could at that point since it occured much earlier in the match. He was arguing the what occured just before the Serb got the Takedown from Dale holding onto a body wrap on the mat too long. Dake was arguing to the refs it was the wrong scoring sequence they were watching but they kept reviewing it. I don’t see how Dake wins a challenge on the right footage but I’d be mad too if they weren’t even looking at the right thing. Even their explanation of after watching the video was confusing since they referenced that earlier scoring footage first before ended by confirming the Serb’s takedown points too for the sequence the video screen shows they weren’t reviewing.
  4. If you are taking about Dakes 2TD close to the out of bonds in the 2nd the Serbs coach signaled that they declined that challenge after originally asking for it. Its wasn’t denied they just decided to drop it because the score could turn into 4-4 if they lost it.
  5. The video review they show on the big screen which is the same as the officials get showed the 1st period step out review that resulted in the 1-1 score. Dake kept telling them that’s the wrong challenge point and even wrong period but they kept watching it. You wouldn’t even be allowed to challenge something that far back in the scoring sequence. I’m not sure he would win the challenge if it was the right sequence viewed but I’d also be pissed if it looked like I’m getting screwed due to them not even looking at the right thing to check.
  6. I’m not sure what the challenge was actually over cause it seemed the Serb got a TD without an issue. But What’s the point of even having multiple officials present if not one of them can figure out they are looking at the wrong challenge video? The replay wasn’t even from the same period shouldn’t they be obvious. Especially when’s it’s called to their attention more multiple time. Honestly, in the past some of Dakes complaining to the ref has got me annoyed but he was justified in this one. Dake should be pissed and glad he came back from it to win.
  7. Or because I like to regularly view all the Forum Menus my regular saved link brings up the Unread Threads list. With this unexpectedly being near the top of it. I apologize if I’m asking too much for someone just have a thread that says Day #, Weight #, or Wrestler Name Discussion/Results when the wrestling isn’t occurring at a viewable time but rather really early in the morning as people need to get ready for work or near the end of a regular work day. Just trying to not spend a week avoiding anything wrestling on this entire forum due to being a couple hours behind the stream. And no I do not want any part of her arm ties.
  8. If you could save the spoiler alerts for inside the thread or at least wait a day. Since the Paris Games occurring at odd times of the weekday some of us working people are waiting to watch the matches before knowing the results. I’m trying to avoid clicking on Olympic Topics but seeing the results in a Threat Title pretty much screws up that option.
  9. I get they “seed” the wrestlers but with the top UWW point acquirers aren’t often the weight class favorite. For most of the women being on the opposite side as Japan is probably the slightly easier route to a final.
  10. Whatever you do don’t talk about your favorite international replacement on a wrestling fan message board. The UWW is always looking for a reason to disregard the entire careers work of “he who should not be named” if he is discussed as a replacement.
  11. If only those schools were able to grow as big as him.
  12. Oh what could have been if only Michigan State still had a parrot around the wrestling room?
  13. I could settle for 1 bronze per weight add a few weight classes. But some counties want to make sure they can sneak a couple medals in each Olympics and wrestling is one of their few possibilities.
  14. The team medals actually only count as 1 per medal type towards the total medals the IOC has set a hard number limit on. i.e. if the US Men’s Team wins a basketball gold that is only 1 gold medal towards the Olympic medal total. So I would the bigger hit is when the IOC has tons of events in a particular sport as mentioned above or when they add even more like the mixed gender relays they added to both swimming and track. Not to mention the random sports they get added hoping for more TV appeal. Or the sports where the athletes biggest prize is some other championship like NBA title, a PGA Open, a Tennis slam with some athletes even opt out of representing their country due to that. Then throw in the Equestrian events where only the ultra rich really participate and the horse does almost all the athletic work. Modern Pentathalon in a similar vein.
  15. Solved a couple threads on here with one hiring.
  16. If I’m looking at the times correct the seasons for wrestling are 5am start and 12pm start EST. If that’s the case the finals will be near the end of a regular work day.
  17. The David Taylor factor says this is not and shut case, but yeah we could probably just fast forward to the final few.
  18. And here I was thinking Indiana had shown enough lately to not get cut until the next round. Maybe in a few years they can push themselves to make the round of 38 when the younger Bassett narrows down his list.
  19. Not DI but, I just saw University of Jamestown got approval to be fast tracked to a DII program.
  20. Not going, but curious. How were you guys able to acquire tickets to all or most of the wrestling events? I was assuming the size of the venue isn’t massive and with tickets open to the world figured each session would fill up pretty quick.
  21. Not sure many fans are so petty that just this action would wnvoke a strong love or hate towards this kid. I myself just find his process of commiting to unproductive and a little vain (even if that wasn’t the intent). I still have no problem cheering him on, yet can feel this approach feels like a fruitless venture.
  22. If the Aussies think those cowbells in the natatorium are annoying then there is no way they could deal with the energy level of the Iranian fans drums and horns.
