  1. Looks like a set from one of Kate Beckinsale's vampire movies.
  2. There was a discussion about this on the old Wrestling Report forum years ago when they first doubled the bonus points. A 5th-place finisher could score more points than a champion (I think we were talking about EIWAs specifically, when a champ earned just 12 placement points). Most agreed that there was too much emphasis on bonus points. Examples this year -- at EIWAs Ryan Crookham won and earned 20.5 points; had 1.5 bonus points. Kelvin Griffin finished 3rd and also earned 20.5 points; he had bonus points in all five of his wins, 8.0 points total. An NCAA champ earns a minimum of 20 points -- 16 placement, 4 advancement. Vito Arujau won and earned 24.0 points (4 MDs). Meyer Shapiro finished 3rd and earned 21.0 points (10 placement, 3.5 advancement, 7.5 bonus), so he earned a champion's points in finishing 3rd. There's no right or wrong here; it all depends on what you want to reward. If bonus points are reduced, we'll see less aggressive wrestling.
  3. If it catches fire?
  4. Anthony D'Alesio wins Long Island U's first-ever Div I championship bout at 184.
  5. Mendez vs Carter in the 1st round just now
  6. Gotta love ESPN. They come on the air with a USAF promotion, introduce themselves, say "Action is underway .... " and immediately cut to a commercial.
  7. I mean that Carter is the #32 seed now.
  8. Todd Carter?
  9. Trackwrestling's dashboard
  10. I guess there was another scratch, if you call it that. There's no pigtail bout listed at 141, so I guess the alternate isn't able to go.
  11. I don't see any other changes, just Cornella. I'm surprised.
  12. At this stage we're not going to know about any other withdrawals until after the weigh-ins
  13. Maybe he can get his mommy to do the clicking for him ....
  14. That movie was just on TCM a day or so ago.
  15. Just what we all wanted to see; the evil empire of Penn State overcome by those scrappy underdogs from Iowa ....
  16. Nobody's forcing you to follow the tournament. You can do it the way I used to and wait three weeks for AWN's issue to arrive in the mailbox. Nah, you'd have to subscribe, look at the calendar to see when the tournament is held, walk to the mailbox to get the issue, then turn every page and read the content. Then do it all over again next year.
  17. Click on the link. Click on Search Events. Then type in "2024 NCAA" , without the quotes, in the Event Name box. Click on Search. Click on Enter Event. Click on 2024 NCAA Division I Championships. When the pop-up box appears, click on Enter Event. Ignore the offer to subscribe. Click on Brackets, either on the left or up above. In the Weight Class box, select 141. You'll see the updated brackets for 141 pounds. Sorry Track makes it so difficult.
  18. Not surprising. He didn't look good after his last bout at EIWAs. At least Cornell didn't wait until the last moment to notify the NCAA; I'm sure some teams will do that tomorrow.
  19. Maybe he'll title his autobiography "I Am Fourth".
  20. The guy wrestling for Penn State is actually Bernie Truax IV. Bernie Truax the Original may have been born in the late 1800s.
  21. Supposedly because only five wrestlers had the criteria to be in the at-large pool. Four received at-large bids, the fifth is the alternate.
  22. From the Pre-Championships Manual: REPLACEMENT POLICY The NCAA Wrestling Committee will select two alternates per weight, one alternate per weight class will be invited to the championships. If any wrestler withdraws or does not make weight, the alternate will be inserted into the bracket. Teams should notify the NCAA as soon as they know a wrestler will not be able to compete. The replacement deadline is the time of weigh-ins on the first day of competition. Action begins Thursday at 11 AM CDT, so the deadline is 9 AM CDT. Gotta believe that the NCAA isn't happy if a guy who broke his neck at his conference tournament is pulled two minutes before weigh-ins begin.
  23. Can't believe that there are people trying to tell you that Kansas City is in Missouri and not Kansas. Next thing you know they'll be telling you there's a Bristol in Virginia, not Tennessee.
  24. Stanich didn't look as big as Berginc (EIWA semis) and Ungar (EIWA finals). Vito looked bigger than Crookham. To my eyes, anyway.
  25. Does this nickel have the date worn off, or is it in good condition?
