  1. ... and a fair amount of money. No way all that should be done for free (the staff, production, talent)
  2. ... and I'm still disappointed to wake up and see no presser on it from ASU. I'm real curious the attendance (which I'll get when I start pilfering around the web for it).
  3. Brown-McGee was one I felt too many people were just checking in McGee's favor. His style tends to clog up McGee, in fact, the two met when they were at other schools (Brown at SDSU, McGee at that place in Norfolk) and Brown beat him. So I wasn't incredibly surprised this one was that close.
  4. One of my karaoke jams back in the day.
  5. Streaming seems to really be suffering. That's a brand-new arena that houses the NHL's Coyotes and ASU's hockey team. I guess the non-hockey streaming tech is a bit untested.
  6. Parco wins here and i'll give ASU a little bit of breathing room for what could materialize at 197. Negron has to avoid getting decked, though.
  7. Only choice I made for ASU was going with Norfleet. That was the only OR I got from ASU. More question marks for Mizzou to be honest. Also thought you could view IG without signing in.
  8. Three swings IMO and I'm going with the thought in my picks that Rocky isn't wrestling. https://www.instagram.com/p/ClEcNn_pGf6/
  9. Long wasn't an NAIA national champion. He won Midlands at 141, wrestled the season at 149 and was reportedly booted from Grand View for violating the terms of his agreement with the coaches prior to the postseason. Grand View set an NAIA scoring record at that tournament without Long.
  10. One of the more petty things I've done at the old board (Dec. 09-Oct. 12, just to clarify) was to actually put the word on the banned list. Every derivative was ****'ed out. People snuffed that one out immediately. I had to removed d*ck from the banned words list, because the default word kept changing Mike Zadick to Mike Zathingy.
  11. 4 of the 5 are affiliated with NLWC. Someone should ask Cael/Varner, et al.
  12. Been supportive the 4-in-5 suggestion for years. I think Kolat was the first I heard mention the concept years ago. It just makes sense. By product is it could/would eliminate forfeits at the sports highest collegiate level, too.
  13. So was it confirmed Max86 was yet another alias of NJDan/Brooklyn Dodger? That makes sense as to why he'd be immediately dismissive of people who actually know what they're talking about. I'd have noticed it if there was an "if true" line.
  14. I've suggested for years that BTN pair a pro with a rookie for a season. Then you have a new crew of people who can then be versed in the sport and then train the next generation. Now that BTN proper is owned by Fox, we get their contract guys (like Ray Flores) who have to do a set # of events in their contract for Fox, and BTN events get lumped in there. I've lived in Big Ten country for 10 of the last 13 years and have gotten a call ONE time to work at Minnesota for something - the Day 1 stream of the National Duals in like 2013 just when I moved back. I would have loved an opportunity like Student U. when I was in college. I had two TV games before I graduated college - one as a sideline reporter for Comcast Sports Net and another for a locally produced women's basketball game where I had no color or even on-screen clock. That WAS my TV sizzle reel. The amount of reps these Big Ten guys get these days is so valuable.

  16. College sports departments are over staffed in some places, understaffed in others. One part of that discrepancy is the promotion of Olympic/non-revenue sports. Schools will not spend money to lose more money any more than they have to. Putting stuff on ESPN+ or FloSports, usually through a conference (not school) contract will put some money back into those schools’ pockets. Much of those deals are about FB/MBB rights. Alaska-Anchorage puts its mens hockey games on YouTube for free, whereas the NCHC has its own conference streaming plan. I think Atlantic Hockey is with FloHockey. Big Ten is on BTN+ (mostly) and believe a number of Hockey East games are on ESPN+. Wrestling isn’t alone with splintering how things get viewed. Of all those I listed, I can guarantee Alaska-Anchorage is the only place that isn’t getting some type of nominal kickback from a streaming deal. Anchorage is also a D1 hockey independent, so they don’t have the luxury of a conference contract. I’ve also learned while tracking attendance, some schools won’t even “staff” that task … and wrestling is one of the more difficult sports for staff to walk in and be able to cover since it’s so nuanced. Wrestling piggybacking conference streaming contracts is better for the regular season viewing with “wildcat” tournaments picking their streaming option just being part of the landscape.

  18. Didn’t my former residence of PA also elect a dead guy? Wasn’t that the whole gag with The Distinguished Gentleman? Ah, I hate politics.

  20. We were the Bulls ...
  21. Dad didn’t want me to be cursed with his name (Grover) so this is what we got. I was in a movie with Rip and Dan Gable.
  22. No one jumps off the page at me, but the 197 won some bouts at the Trojan Open last year and they've got a couple of kids from Allen, Texas on the roster.
  23. Finally to a computer. My access doesn't give me detailed logs on things - I was never the server or site administrator, I just had some next level mod/admin access when needed. What I can say is my post went through at 9:32 CDT. The only thing I can say definitively is I was browsing threads on Tapatalk when it blanked out. I opened the browser and posted the new thread. It appears the time the lights were turned off was 9:30 CDT, putting my post in "after the whistle" since I can still see what's on the board, but I wouldn't know I had any different access until after the fact. I had my computer packed up since I had an early flight this morning. So I TRULY didn't know what time they were going out, other than I tried to get one in there at the end, not to steal anyone else's glory, but to pay homage to the OGs with the lockup word from the previous iteration of the board, magistrate. My access didn't allow me any logs that displayed timestamps in a clean view. I never dove that deep into server logs, etc when I was at USAW. I may have looked at the admin panel 2-3x a year after I left 10 years ago. If they (logs) do exist, I don't know where to find them. The moderation view does allow me to click on an IP address and see the most recent posts from that IP, so that allowed me to see that my post was two minutes AFTER the last actual post on the board. Now possessing that knowledge, I moved my post to the deleted bin, so I can say the very last posts on the board both came at 9:30 p.m. - and based on the order in the thread, @GreatWhiteNorthgot one in, but @jross posted right after it, at 9:30. @ionel's post on the Last Word thread came at 9:17 p.m. Here's that last thread and the last three posts (not by anyone with admin access) on the board. I hope that clarifies it. I honestly didn't know everyone else was locked out when I posted. Now I do. Even in death, that forum was causing me a headache.
  24. Bob’s knowledge is never in question. Guy is super smart, a man who served our country and helped rescue one tournament (Reno) and amp up another (Ironman). I mean divisive in the way people argue on the forums.
