  1. Impressive win by Haines. Very impressed by his defense.
  2. Haines showing he can hang with the strength of Lewan
  3. Kervliet sporting a pretty heavily splinted hand
  4. Surprised Van Ness can't turn the Michigan backup 141 pounder
  5. Wow, I was so incredibly wrong. It was a dec for Barlett instead.
  6. RBY using the stall ride to perfection. Didn't even try to turn from top.
  7. Brock is a good one. What ever happened to that kid?
  8. Yes, although in my examples the one getting pinned was a NCAA champ.
  9. Meaning...a great wrestler getting pinned? I'll throw out some examples: Taylor being pinned by Bubba. Nickal pinning Martin. Piccinnini pinning Lee. Joseph pinning Martinez. Gadson pinning Snyder.
  10. So it's a stupid prediction to predict a DEC win for a guy who is 0-2? At one point RBY was 0-2 versus Desanto...somehow he turned it around and started winning.

  12. Rank those returning champs from most to least likely to repeat! Note, last year's champs at 141, 157 and HWT graduated. 1. Spencer Lee - short of injury this is a LOCK and 3x Hodge. 2. Yianni - yes he lost to Gomez but that's not happening again. 3. O'Toole - the weight is stacked but this kid is a stud 4. RBY - he's beaten fix in the finals twice already, no reason to think he can't again 5. Starroci - Lewis is still out there but Carter has taken care of him 2x in a row now. 6. Brooks - typically he would be as high as 3 but already has a loss this season. 7. Max Dean - honestly should have lost before the finals last year and has lost several matches already this year
  13. Just a few short years ago Rutgers seemed to be a program on the upswing. They crowned their first 2 NCAA champs in Nicky Suriano and Anthony Ashnault, they were an above-average B10 program and on the verge of becoming a top 10 team nationally. What has happened since then though? They haven't been able to attract the same type of transfer talent and their primo recruits (e.g. Aragona and now Alvarez) have left the program. Rutgers seems to be trending downward back toward irrelevance. Is new coaching blood needed? Has Goodale lost his magic?
  14. Running away is a viable tactic if you can manage to score a few points and prevent your opponent from scoring more points than you - Wrestling John Madden.
  15. Spencer Lee is the best wrestler in NCAAs today. He is better than RBY. Even, I, as a Penn State homer, can admit that. However, this doesn't necessarily mean he beats RBY head to head. He might not even beat Real Woods or Yianni D, despite being so awesome. Even Kervliet might present Lee a challenge. There are weight classes for a reason.
