  1. Yes, but he's a bit of an anomaly in terms of having big pecs and punching fast and hard. Most top boxers don't have big pecs.
  2. Tyson had amazing power. Pacquiao is more known for speed:
  3. This is what was said when the Penn State dynasty first began. The idea was once that David Taylor and Ed Ruth graduated Penn State would fall back to earth and rejoin the pack. I realized this year we can say the same thing about Stallroci and Brooks. Brooks is definitely done after this year and Starocci has indicated this is his final season too. So next year you're losing two guys who are near locks for 25+ points at NCAAs. So once Stallroci and Brooks leave, will Penn State fall back to earth?
  4. This is more of a MMA topic but has anyone seen AJ Ferrari's video of him training MMA? For such an explosive athlete his striking looks like Ben Askren. It's slow and awkward. Askren was never explosive so it was understandable his striking would be similarly unexplosive. But what gives with AJ's punches looking like he's punching underwater?
  5. Nope. He's going to focus on the Olympics and then MMA. I think the only way he doesn't come back is if he DOESN'T win NCAAs this year.
  6. We know 125 is a mess. But which current #1 ranked wrestler is most vulnerable? 133 - Crooham 141 - Woods 149 - McLovett 157 - Haines 165 - O'Toole 174 - Stallroci 184 - Keck 197 - Brooks Hwt - Kerk
  7. I assume these kids are named after Carl? Or is there another famous Cael in wrestling?
  8. I'm hearing that the MD coach said something to the effect "No, you don't have to pin" and was angry that Penn State was pinning his wrestlers.
  9. My theory was that he was pissed at Starocci refusing to score a TD to try and get in the pin instead?
  10. At the end of the MD-PSU dual the Maryland coach seemed unhappy and was jawing at Cunningham in the handshake line. Anyone know what that was about?
  11. Cornell + Iowa = Corniowa Taking the best of each squad: 125: Ayala vs Davis [EDGE Corniowa] 133: Vito vs Nagao [EDGE Corniowa] 141: Woods vs Bartlett [EDGE Corniowa] 149: Rathjen vs Kasak [EDGE PSU] 157: Shapiro/Franek vs Haines [PUSH] 165: Ramirez/Caliendo vs Mesenbrink [PUSH] 174: Kennedy vs Stallroci [EDGE PSU] 184: Foca vs Truax [EDGE Corniowa] 197: Cardenas vs Brooks [EDGE PSU] HWT: Fernandes vs Kerk [EDGE PSU] I think Corniowa wins it in a close one!
  12. I've said this before but MM at 157 and 165 Haines makes more sense. Haines has a bigger frame and MM is a small 165 pounder.
  13. Who is leading the Hodge race so far? Throwing some names out there: Crooham Fix Ragusin Woods O'Toole Stallroci Brooks
  14. 125 - Davis dec McCrone - 3-0 133 - Bouzakis maj Shunk - 3-4 141 - Mendez dec BB - 3-7 149 - D'Emilio dec Kasak - 3-10 157 - Haines dec Wilcox - 6-10 165 - Mesenbrink tech Hepner - 11-10 174 - Starocci dec Welsh - 14-10 184 - Rogotzke dec Truax 14-13 197 - Brooks dec Geog - 17-13 285 - Kerkvliet dec Feldman - 20-13 PSU
  15. Mesenbrink is killing it. My only concern is that he's a bit undersized for the weight. Against the elite guys this might prove to be the difference. He almost got horsed by Fish.
  16. A Rocky Mountain High coach received a lifetime ban from coaching Idaho high school sports after striking a wrestler from an opposing school last weekend. A video of the incident shared with the Idaho Statesman shows Russell Brunson entering the ring and hitting a freshman from Nyssa, Oregon, at least three times during a match against Brunson’s son at the Skyview Duals on Saturday in Nampa. Officials had to stop the match to clear the Rocky Mountain assistant coach from the mat. He was not ejected from the tournament, West Ada spokesperson Niki Scheppers told the Statesman. Brunson explained in a letter Monday to the District Three Board of Control that he thought his son was put into an illegal choke hold and feared he was about to pass out. The board serves as the local arm of the Idaho High School Activities Association, the state governing body. “As a coach, the normal reaction would be to yell and point it out to the ref, but my reaction as a dad took it one step too far,” Brunson wrote. “What would you do if your kid was getting choked out, just 2 feet in front of your face? https://news.yahoo.com/idaho-wrestling-coach-hits-student-230904199.html?
  17. Maybe the suspended Iowa wrestlers got off easy? New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte was arrested Thursday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, over allegations of illegal sports betting while he played at LSU. Louisiana State Police said the charges against Boutte, 21, include a felony count of computer fraud and a misdemeanor count of gambling prohibited for persons under 21. The investigation is ongoing, police said, with additional charges possible. Investigators assigned to the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division found that Boutte bet on sports from April 6, 2022, until May 7, 2023, when he was 20. Boutte allegedly used an alias to get around the age requirement for placing sports wagers in Louisiana. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39386960/patriots-kayshon-boutte-arrested-illegal-betting-lsu
  18. Frankly, I think they should be allowed to wrestle AND to bet on all the sports they want, including their own matches.
