  1. They talked about it extensively during the broadcast and he could be seen shaking out his hand and grimacing.
  2. Penn State pooping the bed so far. And Davis seems to have hurt his left hand badly.
  3. If they had SVN and a 100% Starocci it would be possible. Won't happen this year.
  4. My prediction, 125 Davis loses to Peterson in his 2nd match. Hope I am wrong though.
  5. Who will be the first #1 to go down and to whom do they lose? Choices: 125 Davis 133 Fix 141 Mendez 149 Lovett 157 Haines 165 KOT 174 Lewis 184 Keck 197 Brooks HWT Kerk
  6. 125 - Deaugustino 133 - Brown 141 - Matthews 149 - Rooks 157 - Zerban 165 - Fish 174 - Maylor 184 - Rogotzke 197 - Novak HWT - Crosby
  7. This is excellent news for Real Woods and Iowa fans. He now doesn't have to face a former AA who beat him in Clay Carlson. Instead faces a guy he beat by TF this year. Huge boost for Woods.
  8. "Sha-pee-roh" or "Sha-pie-roh"? "Reel" Woods or "Re-ale" Woods? "Sta-rocky" or "Sta-row-chee"? Other names that need clarification?
  9. If you had to predict the NCAA champs but you could NOT pick any #1 seeds who would you pick? Arrange in order of most confidence to least confident to win it all. My take: 133 #2 Crookham (most confident - should have been the #1 seed) HWT #2 Bastida (has taken out all of the other top heavies) 174 #9 Starocci 125 #3 Ayala (has wins over the #1 seed) 184 #2 Salazar 141 #2 Bartlett (if he decides to be offensive) 157 #3 Shapiro 197 #2 Hidlay (Brooks is just too good) 165 #2 Mesenbrink (KOT is just too good) 149 #6 Gomez (least confident - Gomez can get hot or burn out)
  10. That is the biggest question mark for Penn State. A relatively healthy Cstar (80%+) wins the title. If he's less than that I think Lewis takes him out.
  11. Yup, I'm a pretty reasonable fan. I try not to be too big of a homer.
  12. My official predictions about my favorite team, Penn State. First, Penn State wins the team title by at least 40 points. It won't be close. Now here are my weight by weight predictions 125 Davis - wins his first round match but loses to Dean Peterson in round 2. He makes his way through consis and ultimately takes 7th. 133 Nagao - wins his first round match but loses in round 2 to Nasir Bailey. Ends up making R12 but falling short of AA honors. 141 Bartlett - Makes the semis where he takes on Woods and drop a close one. Ends up finishing 3rd again. 149 Kasak - Makes the quarters before dropping a close decision to Kyle Parco. Finishes 6th to become a true freshman AA. 157 Haines - makes the finals opposite Shapiro and wins a close one. Your 2024 NCAA champ at 157! 165 Mesenbrink - makes the finals opposite KOT but loses by major. 2nd place as a true frosh. 174 Starocci - He really is injured and loses in the quarters to Lewis in a 2 point match. Wrestles back to take 3rd. 184 Truax - Loses to Plott in the quarters. Wrestles back and takes 4th, for the 4th time. 197 Brooks - Wins a decision vs Hidlay in the finals. 4x NCAA champ! HWT Kerk - Loses a barnburner to Bastida in the finals. Takes 2nd for the 2nd year in a row. Penn State goes 9/10 AAs with 4 finalists and 2 champs!
  13. Tiny Carter Starocci. Limping his way to an at large bid and NCAA title win. So inspiring.
  14. Given that he will have beaten so many higher seeds (by seeds he will have to beat the 8 Kemp, 1 Lewis, 4 Griffith and 2 Devos), including two former NCAA champs AND been one of the lowest seeds to win a NCAA title? How can that not be a shoe in for OW, if it happens this way? It would be a true underdog story!
  15. Rank the #1 seeds by your confidence they will win NCAAs. My take: 1. KOT - 99% (beaten Carr over and over again and is familiar with Mesenbrink) 2. Keck - 95% (shown to be the class of the weight) 3. Brooks - 90% (10% chance is solely due to Hidlay) 4. Kerk - 80% (Yonger is on fire. Feldman took Kerk down) 5. Haines - 75% (Saldate/Lewan will give him a close match; Shapiro or Andonian could take him out) 6. Lovett - 60% (Gomez could catch him) 7. Fix - 50% (Crookham or Father Time could catch the almost 30 year old college senior) 8. Mendez - 40% (Woods, Bartlett) 9. Lewis - 30% (Assuming Stallroci is healthy) 10. Davis - 10% (Crazy weight where I think some lower seeded 125ers have better odds of willing it all, like Ayala)
  16. I want to bet on the outcome of the NCAA D-1 wrestling championships. Where and how can I do so legally? Edited to add: I am not a current D-1 wrestler.
  17. He threatened to kill a tournament worker.
  18. I mean he has autism. Cut him a break.
  19. The whistle blew and he shook hands. He didn't even get into a wrestling stance.
  20. Imagine if Fix and Davis were in the same weight class. It would be a 26 year old wrestling a 15 year old...
  21. Starocci received an at-large bid for NCAAs even though he did not actually wrestle in Big 10s. He stepped on the mat for 1 second before injury forfeiting and then medically defaulting. It seems to be an abuse of the rule and against the spirit of competition. I'm a huge Penn State fan but even I feel like this was unjust.
  22. 125: #1 seed - Stanich; champ: Ayala 133: #1 seed - Crookham ; champ: Crookham 141: #1 seed - Mendez; champ: Woods 149: #1 seed - Lovett; champ: Henson 157: #1 seed - Haines; champ: Haines 165: #1 seed - KOT; champ: KOT 174: #1 seed - Lewis; champ: Lewis 184: #1 seed - Keck; champ: Keck 197: #1 seed - Brooks; champ: Brooks HWT: #1 seed - Kerk; champ: Bastida Penn State wins the team title
